GZE troubles. AW11 People PLEASE help Tue, 18 June 2002 09:22 Go to next message
my ZE is the S/C AW11 version. I found out that the alternator on my GZE doesnt have an internal regulator. DAM IT I almost hate my car. I have had so many problems.

what I need is someone to either get my a product number of the external regulator that the MR2 has OR sell me one.

wow. i've had my aw-11 for 6 years, ze in it for over 3, never knew that about the alt?? i had a 120 amp high output that i put on it when i did my stereo. the 120 amp died in the arss about 5 months ago, put the ze one back on and it wouldnt work Cry so now i have the one off the ge on it. it wires a little different, and i had to put a 5" metal bracket on the top alt mount to move the alt out a bit, as the ge one mounts on the other side of the motor, and the + charge wire would hit the block without moving it out a bit. it works fine apart from not being able to handle the power drian from the stereo. ( i have lights flashing to the bass at night, plus my volt guage moves back and forward with the bass) i'll have to have a look at the ze one for the regulator cause i cant see one external.

If you go rummaging around the engine bay, you won't find it, it lives in the boot under the fan controller.

Shocked wow, i never knew that it was there! thats probably why my ze alt never worked, i have probably stuffed it when i put the high output alt on, it had a built on regulator, and i still used the original charge wire, as well as a larger one. damn, maybe my ze alt isnt buggerd after all. it could be the factory reg.
