I'm not 100% sure but I don't think there will be any artwork going on the trailer... Whoever sponsors the project will get advertising on the sides of the trailer... I told my mate about the idea of the biggest sponsor getting the tailgate and he thought that was pretty cool... So he may be in for sure... He still needs to know what needs to be done... Also he needs to know what paint is to be used (2-Pack or just normal paint e.t.c.)... THis is VERY important... Pls someone let me know soon...

Michael,
Get me the exact dimensions of the floor plate needed and I'll see if I can get something from work. Don't assume that the trailer is square either, you really don't want to be trimming plate to get it to fit.
Something like 3mm checker plate be sufficient??
Darren.

Darren, 3mm will be perfect, we can flip the checker plate over so its smooth side up the dimensions are as follows, and are supprisingly good considering the state of the trailer
front 1300mm L side 1800mm R side 1800mm back 1300mm
theres a few mm in it but if you cut those dimensions im sure it will fit in nicely, or at least be persauded to fit nicely
Allan I agree about using the bigger lights....they are by far better, what would be really nice is some truck company like SX trailers to sponsor some of those nice new truck LED lights

Update:
Looks like we may have enough steel plate to do the floor, and may even have someone to sandblast the trailer, eletrics are currently being organised
Well done all those that have put their hand up
Can anybody get hold of some Galvanised paint or equivelant?
And if anybody has a decent tow hitch laying around they'd like to donate......

Hah - lover the idea - i can imagine the "RICE" trailer - withe the huge Vtec inside sticker on the tailgate - a monster alloy type adjustable wing for extra trailer downforce - and of course a trailer bodykit
Oh not to forget - your trailer couldnt go without the 2 10 inch subs amp , 20 disc cd changer and playstation wired up to a tft screen from tandy ??
Of course 19 inch chromed lite alloy wheels would be a must - along with licorice thick treads and extra stiff coil springs
Mind you the practicality of a TRAILER would be totally lost - but hey - if its rice - there is no point !!

Sorry guys, this is a serious work-related post I just got off the track. I only though of it after talking to a bloke at Classic Trailers last week. He was telling me about some customer who wacked $2000 worth of wheels and tyres on a 3-bike trailer worth $700. Sydney.............where do they get the money?

I have some wheel bearings in good nick. These are the same as the most common ones that trailers have. IE same as Holden, Corona, Datsuns etc. Willing to help also. I am able to weld cocky shit style (and sometimes better), if that helps. Jase

thanks Jase, currently the wheel bearings are in good working order ( at least till the wheels start turning regularly), and they are toyota hubs with rwd pcd, of course a spare set never goes astray
We'll definately take you up on the welding, Im sure we can arrange a mig to do it so its not so cocky shit as it usually is
as a side note... nice job on the manifold
still waiting for the bullshit to stop

If we don't manage to get some tyres new from a sponsored arrangement, I'm about to change mine. They have some life left, and are hard wearing. They've lasted over 2 years on grandmas lil ol rolla, so they'd last about 25 minutes being towed around by some Toymods maniacs!

I believe the trailer is for anything that you need it for... I think that any Toymods member can borrow it for the day to use it for whatever they want and also it will be towed on cruises for the bar-b and the cases... Back me up ppl... Is this right???

Rod will correct me if Im wrong but....
The trailer will be available for use to all financial members (once it is all fixed up), a small nominal fee will be charged to cover the cost of registration and maintenance over the year to those using the trailer ( Im guessing but I think I heard somewhere between $10-20 each time you use it). You can use the trailer for anything you want as long as it comes back in the same condition it left. The trailer will also be used for BBQ events etc by the club.

Hi all, not wanting to bitch but wouldn' the trailer for a car club be better if it fit a , er, car? I realise it would be more expensive but wouldn't it be much more worthwhile?

Hi Tim
Yes a car trailer has been discussed... are you donating one to the club?
unfortunately we can't afford to buy one at the moment (in any condition)
the reason we have taken this on as a project is because we had the trailer and some parts donated to the club (thats right for free!).
however it needs some restoration work (hence the reason for this thread)
if we cannot get this project off the ground it is doubtful we will look at anything else, however if we can get this trailer restored, on the road, and being 'hired' out to members then a 'car trailer' will naturally be the next step.
lets hope we get some more support for this one
it would be great to see the club purchasing large items such as car trailers and engine hoists... but one step at a time
cheers

For the cost of a new trailer it is not worth the hassel of fixing this one.I can't see why most of us can't throw in a few buck to get one.If all local members (and interstate for that matter)put in a small donation it would benefit the club. Most of us would blow more then $10-$20 on piss on nearly any given friday night so why not put it into the club. This thing could be used to cart bbq gear for cruizes, tables, chairs all the things we want when out and about. At car shows it can be used for all the display gear, making the club look more professional. Then there is each and everyone of us useing it if we need to. To do up an old one will cost us just as much in the long run, so come on lets just pool our money and get this s!*t over with talking about it is getting us nowhere. BTW if we had it now it could be used on saterday

Rod - Has this been arranged yet? If not, I might be able to get access to a sandblaster. It's in the Kellyville area if that helps (not too sure where the trailer is..)
Let me know if it still needs to be done, and I'll get in touch with the owner.

Paul,
Sandblasting is still very much needed to get things going. If you can see what you can do it would be greatly appreciated.
Simon,
Mate New rear lights and brackets would be sweet ! IRA11Y should be able to supply some measurements of the mounting space we have if that helps otherwise I'm sure we can weld on some new brackets !
Thanks,

Sorry for the delay Guys, We had a few other option come and go but we are just about ready to get things going. I know this has dragged out way to long already.
We have been offered a Hilux ute tray as an option so we just need to measure thatup but we will probably stick with the original Idea of fixing the one we have.
That being the case first thing needed is the Sandblasting and painting.
Lyle, Are you still able to help out by arranging to have it sandblasted ?
Then we just need it painted straight away to stop it rusting.
More info soon
