3SGE Compression probs Sat, 05 April 2003 08:23 Go to next message
Hey guys, i've got a gen 4 3SGE that has a major compression problem (no. 1 is down by 70%). I'm kinda new to Celicas or working on engines at all, just wanted to know what you think the chances are of a newbie pulling one apart and fixing the tappets/seals and possibly doing the cam belt at the same time. Is it worth spending the doe on getting a garage to do it or can i do it myself with out stuffing it up.
cheers
ps i've got a haynes manual, does that cover details enough??

i don't think it's a vvti, it's just a standard 87 3SGE front wheel drive, i thought vvti was only on the gen 7's or recent stuff
