Okies...
Just wondering if someone/anyone could check out:
http://www4.tpgi.com.au/users/loats//technical/ma6 1/gearboxes.html
and make corrections/additions etc. theres a bit of info there, but i want to make it more complete and accurate, ie with model numbers, interchangability etc...
if someone could have a look, it'd be greatly appreciated.
cheers

Four speed = W40
Celica = W50
Supra = W55, W57, W58
I think these are the general ones if you want to add that.

That's over-simplifying things a bit... I've only seen W55's in Celica's, but W57's and W58's can be found in Celica's AND Supras, not to mention lots of other RWD Toyota's.

Just while we are on the subject of gearboxes.
I have aq late model W58 (like yours norbie), I read somewhere they take 2.4l of oil. I put about 3l into mine and it still wasn't coming out the filler hole, I thought you can fill them till it comes out the filler and thats it. Can someone clarify this.
Thanks

Yep, fill till the oil comes out the filler. I have a W58 repair manual from Nov 1991 and it suggests they take 2.6 l of SAE 75W-90 or 80W-90. I think 2.4 l is probably a little under done.

Yep I agree absolutely simplifying things! But as things generally go thats what I feel ppl refer to them as. Unless we are going to write a list of what model WXX came in what cars?
Cheers
