ok i have recently been looking into getting a Mk3 supra(86.5-92),because i just started a job and will be able to get my own car and well here in america civics and integras are a bit to common and all tuners want to be unique and seeing as how i cant afford the MK4 i figured the mk3 would be the next best thing. And when i was doing research on the mk3 i came across your website and saw that you can swap the 2jz-gte into the mk3. I was wondering as to how hard putting the 2jz in is, what needs to be modified, moved around, changed ETC ETC...
oh and BTW what motor is the 1UZ-FE out of?
any imput/suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Anythign can be put in anything with enough work.
The 2JZ doesn't appear to be a hard swap. A friend is doing it at the moment (is yet to fit the new engine, but he's well on the way).
His site is www.turbosupras.com but I don't know if it's online yet.
1UZFE came out of a few cars.. to my knowledge Jap-spec Crowns and Soarers. Not sure if they are in the Australian Lexus LS400...

The JZA71 is an MA70 with a 1jzgte in it, putting a 2jz into one of those would be a walk in the park.
The UZ V8s are in crowns, soarers, lexus sc400+ls400+sc430, landcruisers, and god only knows what else

ahh ok soarer motor gotcha,
thanks for all the info, now to get the car and save 5000 to get the 2jz. then who knows how much else to go to a shop to get it put in because it will prolly take custom motor mounts

Um, there will be LOTS of things that need to be done custom.. even on a 'bolt-in' engine conversion you should expect *at least* $500US of messing around, because nothing's ever easy. If it was that easy, everyone would do it.
That said if you have the money then it's an AWESOME engine and the best you could choose...

Make sure you do your homework.
If you want to put a 2JZ into a Mk-3 start with a JZA supra. Don't put a 2J in a MA70 as it will be more work.
Research now, while you havn't got a Supra. Also you might be able to find a JZA70 that has a great 1J engine in it. Might not need to do the swap.
Manny is putting out 240+rwkw out of his 1J. Not sure how much is needed for this output but instead of doing a $7,000 (AUS$) conversion, spending that much on a 1J will get you a shitload of power.

The guy is from the US - I don't think a JZA7x came out there. All 1JZ mk3's there are swaps from what I know.
But out of curiosity - why is a JZA7x a better car to start off with to do a 2JZ conversion?

yea i'm a little curious also to know why the jza70 is easier to do the 2jz conversion to than the other, just curious

"The guy is from the US - I don't think a JZA7x came out there. All 1JZ mk3's there are swaps from what I know."
Er... they were never sold here either.
As for why it's an easier conversion... the 1JZ and 2JZ are essentially the same engine design. The "JZ" refers to the design of the engine. The "1" and the "2" refer to the generation of the motor. The 1JZ is the first generation of that motor. The 2JZ is the second generation of the same thing - so you can unbolt one and bolt in the other.
Hence being able to swap gearboxes between them
The 7M is completely different motor (ie. the 7th generation of the M-series engine) so it's a completely different design, shape, and mounting setup.

Okay well - my comment was purely related to the fact that the cars in the US are LHD sooooooo...them not being sold here has to do with ... what???
Anyway, so what ur saying is the 1JZ and 2JZ share the same electronics, mounts and everything? So basically u just need to swap the motor and box?
From what I heard the 2JZ conversion is really expensive - aren't there more custom/fabrication things you have to do to get it in? Everything I read, it's not a simple bolt on conversion.

1JZ's and 2JZ's have different electronics, but all the mechanical stuff (including engine mounts etc) are either the same or interchangeable. There's no such thing as a "simple bolt on conversion" when it comes to engine swaps, but the 2JZ into JZA70 route is relatively easy since 90% of it will bolt in as is. There is no cutting, welding or custom fabrication work required.
