S series boltup gearbox strength.

I'm weighing up the options between a CA18DET and a 3SGTE for a conversion into a gemini. As it stands I'm more attracted to the 3SGTE as a motor but as a conversion choice the CA18DET is winning. If I were to go for a 3S-GTE, I'm aware that the sprinter box can be made to bolt-up, but the sprinter box isn't renowned for its strength... what other options are there (if any) as bolt up gearboxes for the 3s?

Try a search for this, I remember a LOT of info coming up about this not that long ago! A bellhousing for a W55? came behind the SA63 Celicas (the ones with the 2S-C) but I think something like the starter is on the wrong side?
Cheers

Hotgemini, an SA63 bellhousing that sits between the 2SC motor and a W55 box is the go. The main issue is that the starter motor will interfere with the turbo manifold. Some use this as an excuse to make a custom manifold. Another solution is to modify the bellhousing so it's on the driver's side. I believe Fraser in NZ do this. The W5x boxes are quite sturdy as I'm sure you're aware.
Talk to 'Cool1', 'RA45Celica' or 'TA22-3SGTE'...these guys have all (or are in the process of) RWD converted 3SGE or 3SGTE motors.
TA22-3SGTE posted a great spiel on his conversion....if you do a search...
Cheers Dave.

In fact, here it is:
RWD 3SGTE
Go about half way down. It's a great read and he makes it sound like you might be baking a cake.
Cheers Dave.

I'd already read that thread, very nice summary isn't it .
Which leads to my next question, general consensus has it that the W55 is a very strong box, but can anyone offer anything more objective on that as to how its strength compares to the R32 RB20DET box?
