 RA65 fuel tank size?

WTF is the size of the RA65 fuel tank?
I ran out of petrol on the way back from Canberra on Friday.
The NRMA guy put 10L into it. I drove the 18km to Liverpool and filled up but only managed a bit more than 43L.
Assuming I used up 1.5L to get to the petrol station...
10 + 43 - 1.5L = 51.5?
I was pouring in petrol until it was all flowing back out.
I always thought that it was 60L like the RA60 tank! It's very annoying when you run out of petrol 'coz you assume the tank is larger than it is!
Also, does anyone know if there's a difference between the fuel sender units of the RA60 and RA65? My petrol gauge shows close to full when I have a full tank but will drop down to empty after about 30L.

tank size of ra65 is 58 litres and sender units are different
i have filled 57.5 litres before after i ran out completely so im guessing if it was right up the filler neck it would be 58 which i wouldnt recommend

i think i read/heard somewhere...you use more petrol by starting the car too ?
missus ran out of fuel and racq come out with '10litres'....you cant trust those guys anyway

Hmm... I might have to pull my tank apart one day. Don't know why I couldn't put more petrol in.
And if the NRMA put less than 10L in, then that means my tank is even smaller!

i have a VERY old motor magazine that reviews the ra65 when it was released. it states 61 litres.

Just checked the owner's manual it says 13.4 Imp gal or 61 liters. So unless your tanks has dents in it it could be just the sensor on the petrol pump.
