Hehehe now Ive aroused the curisity of all you stoners!!!.... Very Happy

Ive been running the C with the top cam cover off for the last... well ok ever since I put it in nearly a year ago, basically I was just lazy and couldnt be bothered putting it on, but on Tuesday I caught a stone and tore the teeth off the cam belt.....funny it should happen only 50m from home when Ive been playing in the dirt a lot lately and waiting for it to happen, but oh no it happens on a sealed road ..just goes to show that it can happen and a good advertisement NOT to show youre pretty adjustable cam gears by leaving the covers off

You could always build a clear acrylic or lexin(spelling?) cover so you can still see the gears!

Looks like i'll be putting the cover back on my cam gears.

That would suck if it happened anywhere other than 50m from home.

Im pretty sure it was a stone..you can sort of see the tear where the stone jammed against the gear at the start (left) of where the teeth are missing

ok fair enough.
is the bottom half of the cover there? cause my covers have a gap in the middle where the engine mount used to go, and i worry that if a rock got in there, it would fall to the bottom and stay in there.

Hey Mick, do you have a splash gaurd/stone tray fitted?
And can we get a pic of the cam gear at all?

You've got me worried now, but I have to pull my radiator out to pull off the crank pulley to put on the bottom cover, that sorta made me decide to leave them all off mine.

Bigworm: Is your motor mounted a fair way forward? cause I have a good 20mm at least between my crank pulley & radiator....

Well, it's not the room that is the problem, with the thermo fan taken out there's room to stand in the gap (just), but getting a puller onto it is another story.
Plus it's a good excuse to leave the covers off. Very Happy

I was just wondering if the cam gear was damaged at all, I misread one of your earlier posts.
