Use the 100kw 4age oil filter. I believe the 3SGTE filters also fit but I can't remember the part number. Check the other thread about Urgent part numbers needed.
I use Mobil 1 5w50 (not the 0w40) and have since I've had it in.

I have a 100kW 4AGE and I work at Toyota...
I use:
Oil Filter: C4
Oil: Toyota Genuine 20w50 SJ/CF (It's an extremely good oil to use)
Spark Plugs: NGK
Air Filter: Standard

Ryco Z386 oil filter. (all the 4age engines use the same oil filter).
Penrite HPR15 oil.
NGK BCPR5EY-11 V-groove option, dont use platinum plugs. waste of money, the fuel is not good enough for them in OZ.

The 4AGE uses platinum plugs standard... They are to be replaced at 100,000km intervals... You must not use normal plugs in the 4AGE... Being a 4AGZE, i'd say the same thing... Use Platinum plugs... Replace them every 100,000kms...

mate i have used V-grooves in my 4age and 4agze and 4agte with-out any problems (i have owned my car since 1995, i have a good idea what works and what doesnt).
and if you ask me the car goes exactly the same as it did with the way overpriced platinum plugs. i do not get any better performane or fuel economy by forking out $80 (or what ever they are worth now, it's been sooooo long since i bought some)for platinum spark plugs.
i have also done my research, and talked to many mechanics about it. you can use other plugs than platinum ones, and i recomend the V-groove NGK's.
what octane fuel do they have in Japan where the engine is built and ECU factory programmed?

Fair enough... I've just heard that you shouldn't use normal sparkies where they come platinum from factory...
And just out of interest, how often do you replace the normal plugs??? Every 40,000kms???

And the battle is on, what the manufacture recommends vs the boys whos tryed it.As for me being employed by toyota id say goes with boys who's tryed it.Why ? In most cases the recomendation is for the customer so the plugs are not getting changed every 40,000km's (in which case the 4afe and in 20,000kms for the 4afc)With the platinums they last 100,00kms, (try changing the plugs in a v6 camry/avalon every 40,000km's when the car is hot). And while on the topic which is better try running 26psi in those tyres which most toyota light vehicles say ...its only for the ride quality and destroys the tyres too.

Yep the platinum plugs are a waste of cash, my gze had them in when i first got it and after a couple of weeks they were stuffed, and i never put anything less than premium 98octane fuel in. And at less then a quarter of the price of platinums the NGK's are the best option. Who really cares if ya have to change them more often
