whats the highest boost level you can run on a daily driven 3sgte with stock internals and what could you do to the engine to be able to raise this safe boost level (e.g lower compression ratio)

cheers

Add a big intercooler, some water injection, free flowing exhaust and efficient turbo! Max boost all comes down to how efficient your setup is!

i read somewhere (in a magazine i think) that cars in japan have an apparently 'low' boost setting if they are running 3 BAR which is 43.5 PSI. does it have anything to do with their fuel? or is it purely setup.

cheers

*ANY* car running 3BAR of boost is guaranteed to have tens of thousands spent on engine/turbo/turbo extras.

those are probably the cars at the japs drags.

typically, GTR with twin GT28-35 turbos, where if the GTR runs any more than a 10 it's not gonna get a second run

3SGTE with stock internals will take over 30 psi if there is no detionation but the standard head bolts seem to stretch above 30psi so 25 psi is safe , My 3SGTE with standard internals hits 30+ psi every day but have stretched the head bolts , Keeping it under 30psi I have no trouble with the bolts , I now have ordered a set of ARP head studs , I will then see how it handles more boost .

A stock 3S-GTE has fuel maps up to 1bar (14.7psi). The gen III 3S-GTE (out of ST205 and AW21) have maps up to 18psi I think.

You might think about upgrading at least your intercooler before you do this though.
