Hi, I am JPaul from Europa.
I would like to put a 4A-GE (from Corolla FWD) in my '84 Célica 1600 ST RWD(TA 60, 2TB motor,OHV, 86 HP, 2 Aisan carburators...) instead of this 2TB.
I don't know if the 2 Aisan carburators can be fitted with its manifold on the 4A-GE.
I think it's OK for the exhaust.
I don 't know for the clutch too !
Does anybody can help me ?
It would be easier to put 2TG, but i don't find it for the moment.
Thanks !
JP

For all the effort of installing a FWD 4AGE in a RWD car, wouldn't you be better off fitting something with a bit more torque? Not saying that these engines can't make power and not that the car is overly heavy (although your car would be a TA65 right with IRS).
I'd be looking at finding another engine.
PS...oh my god, something in the A6X range of Celicas has a less powerful engine than my 21R-C!!!

Hi !!!
Thank you very much for your mail !
I saw this afternoon your website, with your XX and the Celica Supra of your friends...I sold mine ('83 with 5MGE, 170 HP) last month. There was too many rust on the body.
I thought at the 4A-GE because it was on FWD AE86 Corolla.
In France, it 's forbidden to change your engine, and put one that would be powerfully. So no 6 inline in my Celica...the 4A-GE looks like the 2TB...and i could say that "2TB was broken, and as i found this one (4A-GE) in a backyard and it was easy to fit, so i do it..." Hum.
Laws are different in England, in Germany...and others countries of Europa.
In France , we always had these engines on the three générations of Célica RWD ('til 1984):
Celica 1600 LT : 2T 1588 cm3 ; OHV ; 1 carburator Aisan ; 75 HP !
Célica 1600 ST : 2TB 1588 cm3 ; OHV ; 2 carburators Aisan ; 86 HP
Célica 1600 GT : 2TG 1588 cm3 ; DOHC ; 2 carburators Mikuni ; 108 HP
Célica 2000 GT : 18RG 1968 cm3 ; DOHC ; 2 Mikuni ; 118 HP (third generation with IRS)
No 21R-C here...!!!
Mine is TA60 without IRS.
I will send photos at privatemail tomorrow !!!
Bye!!
JPaul

JPaul..
Did you get the TA63 there? If so, Why not a 3TGTE?
More power/Torque! And a direct bolt in!

Hi !!
Yes...why not 3TGTE ?
Because it's rare in France...There' s not a lot Japanese cars...for example, only 300 of Celica-Supra 2.8I (1982-86) were sold here. I don't know for the others.
...And with 3T with turbo, i'm outlaw, I could go in jail !!!!

Here in Finland isnt any *A6* celicas and only handful of MA61 Supras as far as I know. Original japanese imported 3T-GTEU are also rare as penguins in north pole. Engine conversions here are restricted many ways and that SUCKS althought laws might be more strict in mid europe.

What's interesting here is that the ta60 has the updated front end, but solid axcel. I have never seen an a6 celica with the later ('84/'85) front end that wasn't IRS too.

I can't believe I wrote soemthing so stupid . In a lot of other countires, the A6 celica range was a lot bigger - non-flared models with solid axcel and flared ones with IRS
