icon10.gif  April cruise: Last night! Mon, 14 April 2003 14:04 Go to next message
Alright, time for a history lesson people.
This month we will be cruising to Kurnell, the very headland where Captain Cook landed in Australia! I bet you're excited now aren't you?

When: Friday, 25th April, 8:00pm sharp.
Where: Homebush Bay, at the carpark just off Australia ave, right near the station. My phone no. is 0403 441 141, just in case you experience any difficulties.

Route: down Australia ave, right onto Homebush bay Drive, which becomes Centenary Drive. Turn right at the Hume Hwy & follow SW for about 3-4Kms, then turn right onto Stacey St.Follow Stacey street as it changes names a couple dozen times until Menai, where we turn left onto Menai rd.
Just after we turn left, we'll be making a right at the first roundabout, where we'll make a stop to meet up with some southerners.
Follow Menai rd as it changes to river rd then right at linden st. Turn left at the highway, and follow that up through 3 sets of lights & turn right at the 4th, the Boulevard.
Now we stick to the Boulevard as it changes to Captain Cook Dr & follow it all the way to Silver beach where we'll find somewhere to stop & get some pics.

On the way back we can make a stop at Tom Uglys bridge for another picture opportunity (this is where my avatar pic was taken) depending on how we feel. Either way we'll head back up King Georges rd & find a suitably sized fast food outlet to fit us all in (depending on how many of us there are).

As usual, bring your CBs & tune them into channel 16.
Hope to see you all there!

This was planned last year, but didn't happen because my car was violated by an elderly gentleman, so I thought I'd dig it up for this month! Smile
Here's hoping I'm not guaranteeing another injury for my car at the nationals.

By the way, I'm currently chasing up a 90 degree adaptor for my gearbox speedo drive, so I can fit my new speedo corrector. If anyone that is coming tonight happens to have a spare one, can you bring it along? Thanks

There's also a VERY well known Hamburger shop just before Tom Ugly's (on the South Side). Don't know if there's ample parking around there, but I'm told people will queue up around the block for hamburgers from this place, so it must be good.

As for the cruise, I'm keen at this stage Joel Very Happy

That is the day after the show finishes, is that carpark going to be accessable?

You might want to check it out a bit more, just in case the area is still closed off to traffic.

Sounds like a good run though. Cool

Yeap. every cruise. great fun to have one of these on a cruise.

with regards to whats good...speak to karl (WITZL). he got a big group of us handheld ones for $50 i think. do the job well.

This cruise sounds good. if i can get the day off work, i like the idea of cruising up and meeting somewhere along the way. Menai road sounds good to me too.

Sounds like a good idea for a cruise... I'd have to meet up with the guys at Menai though (being at Miranda). Had you have told me about this cruise a year ago, I'd have had no idea where you're talking about with all these locations, but now since I go that way to work, I'm sweet with that route now. Very Happy

Your avatar was taken beneath Tom Ugly's bridge Joel? Nice idea, good for some pics too methinks. My new digicam will have to be given it's first trip out! I'll have to confirm with work about that date, I don't know if I still work on Public Holidays or not. I'll get back to you guys about this. Otherwise I'm up for it. Wink

A few people have asked about the Easter Show, & wether Homebush will be accessable. According to numerous sources, the Easter Show will have ended, & the meeting point should be accessable.
However if any problems are encountered, there should be plenty of other carparks in Homebush to meet at, so if you don't have my number already, it is 0403 441 141 an call me if there is any problem.
I will be there early & will find an alternate point nearbly to meet at if the planned point is unavailable.

I'll do a recon run & put up an update in the next few days, with places to stop & so on, so stay tuned.

Great pics... and it was a fantastic night out, even though the weather was on the iffy side. Rolling Eyes Ahhh, it's all good.

Got pics of my own to post up, but I've run out of space on my ozemail account (only 5mb to play with there), and if anyone can give me a heads-up on a good webspace provider to store pics for nix, that'd be great. Wink

Just spent the last 30 minutes trying to fix up my handbrake garnish/assembly... two long, stubborn grub screws that just bite into bare metal, doesn't last for long in the one spot, so I gotta find a bit of hose or a rubber sleeve to put over the handbrake shaft so the grub screws have something to bite into. Confused

From what I can tell, everyone's pics look great, and I'd enjoy putting them up if I had somewhere to put them (preferably a free webspace). Very Happy Was great to meet more members from the club too, and catch up on a few I hadn't seen in a while, even if I'd forgotten your names Laughing

My first Toymods cruise was fun. Thanks for a very friendly welcome. I had a good chat to a few of you and enjoyed a good dose of bonnet lifting. Hopefully if on a dry cruise we can do a lot more of same. Maybe a couple of MA61's next time huh?

I got pics!! Razz

A few of them aren't that recognisable either due to it being too dark, time-lapse night-time photos, or my hands shaking because it was cold or I had too much caffeine. Wink Maybe a bit of all the above. Very Happy

A few avatar possibilities in these pics too. Just need to size them down to 140 x 100 (that's the size, right?) and you should be set. The average size of these pics is about 15kb, sized down from about 10 times that amount. Surprised

Good avatar pics:

Well, I enjoyed the drive. It was nice to cruise about without any real deadlines (as a shiftworker, I appreciate that).

Plus I also liked the attitude of the Toyota owners. eg, when the yahoos turned up at Kurnell, no one was particularly impressed with their antics (I felt like I should be holding up scorecards after each burning of the rubber) except to go have a look at the Supra, hehe.

And yes, the GT-Fours looked fantastic, but as the owner of one of them, I would say that wouldn't I. Wink

A Great Night Had by All,

I have got some Video Footage of the night, so Will put up soon as I have it in MPEG format.

I even have footage of that other group that turned up at Kurnell, doing the donoughts etc. (I bet the cops would love to get a copy of this footage)

Hehehehehe
