toyota celcia brakes onto MA70? Tue, 15 April 2003 00:14 Go to next message
Hi all,

I'm trying to find an upgrade for the front brakes on the supra that doesn't involve spending $$$$$$$.

I was talking to SSS, they have some celcia brakes, apparently a bit bigger than the stock ma70 discs, about 30 mm thick with 2 piston calipers. He doesn't think they make it to the 330mm dia. of the jza80 though.

Does anyone know if this is going to be a bolt in affair or are the caliper mounts etc going to be significantly different or whatever?

it sounds to me like hes talking about the 294mm discs from the earlier jza80. jeez it would be nice if they'd just bolt on. At the moment he's talking $400 a side.

Thanks

Theres a member on Supraforums who put jza80 discs on his ma70. Theres a thread on it I think which goes into detail what u gotta do. From what I recall, it's not bolt on, but it can be done.

Anyway, dont know about celica brakes.

You must be thinking of the Celsior, aka Lexus LS400.

I'm certain they're not Celica brakes. I have factory 300mm brakes on my MA71. I just upgraded my Corona brakes (250mm) to Celica brakes. The Celica brakes are 258mm. Nice upgrade Smile

As for the Celsior or whatever... I wasn't ever much of a niche man so I don't know anything about them... but I would be somewhat stunned if they did bolt on.

Yeah the celcia was a typo, I didn't know the spelling.
I've got the stocko 300mm ones as well, but they are on min thickness now, and they are only 22mm thich to start with, they have a minimum of 21mm which gives me the shits a bit. Get new rotors, maybe 2 sets of pads later need new discs. Cheapo discs are $90 each, DBA stock start at $195, slotted are $330 or so.

A guy from the supra forums put the rear 2 piston calipers on his jza70 with only very minor mods, ie had to drill the holes on the bracket out a bit as the bolts for the jza80 calipers are bigger. Although he did have a little bit of pad overhang which I don't really want.
