TOYOTA NATIONALS - Tools List Wed, 16 April 2003 04:02 Go to next message
Well, it seems that there are a fair few of us going down to Dubbo this weekend. And no doubt there are plenty of us worried about potential "failures" of their high spec toyota equipment Very Happy
So i thought why not make a list of the tools you are bringing that might be of use to others, so that if disaster strikes and lets say, someone needs to replace their exploded clutch we have plenty of tools available to help.

I'll get the ball rolling with my pittance of tools Sad

- Small trolley jack
- Pair chassis stands
- Metrinch Socket set (3/8" drive)
- All other random tools in my toolbox
- rubber mallet

anything like axle pullers (no idea how big they are), etc etc would be much appreciated by all - and if we share then each person gets to carry less!!!

Just thought it might be an idea Smile

I'm bringing anything I can fit in my car (which should be a lot). All my spanners/sockets/screwdrivers etc, wheel ramps, chassis stands, large-ish trolley jack, electrical tools, a box of assorted bolts/nuts/screws, and anything else I can think of. I'm actually driving from Brisbane to Dubbo to Melbourne and back to Brisbane, so I'm not taking any chances!

if no one takes a axle puller an alternative to taking the axle out is to bolt the drum on backwards and hit it with a mallet

seeing as tho i wont be there for the drags i wont be taking many tools, initially i was going to bring a spare axle and diff center (T series).

some suggestions:

- a tube of silicone and gun (for instant diff gasket)
- an extra long extension bar and uni-joint socket (heres hoping no one has to take their transmission out)
- clutch align tool or a toyota box input shaft (unless u have a good eye!)
- big motherf#cker breaker bar (always comes to good use when working on old cars Very Happy )

cant think of much else..

I'll be bringing a few tools but not much. My car will be pretty heavily loaded.

Prolly just bring a socket set or something.

Wouldn't mind having a lend of the jack and chassis stands to have a look at my left rear suspension. I suspect something's wrong, the car's been really twitchy up the back.

I really wish i was going Sad
But the drive from Perth to Dubbo didnt seem all that fun(especially since i'm dead broke Razz)

But if i was going i'd take as much beer as my rear hatch could take, a loaf of bread, a hammer(for hitting things when my supra brakes down) a mobile, a list of mobile numbers for that dreaded phonecall "she's broke and beer wont fix her"

On second thoughts i'd take some of my sisters clothes and a blow up doll, dress the doll up and put it in the passenger seat so i dont look like too much of a loner

Good to see you're on the ball WITZL. I'll be bringing some of my tools. Trolley jack assorted sockets and wrenches and some chassis stands. If anyone needs a hand with stuff they should post now as we're pretty much on the eleventh hour, so to speak. Ring 0438693787 if any honest toymods forum guys or girls want to borrow something while we're there. I'll be around to lend a hand. While we're on the topic, if anyone wants to bring a spare set of 89 5spd sv21 camry cv assemblies to Dubbo, i'll be at the matilda and ready to negotiate a price. Ring the above mentioned number and ask for Chris.
See you out there people!
