engine vibration, why??

I thought 4AGE's were meant to be very smooth motors, yet mine seems to do nothing but vibrate. It's a turbo'd 4AGZE with aftermarket computer (haltech) setup as RWD in my TE72 (T18).
The vibration is not just a throbbing pulse like a big cam motor, its more of a high speed resonance, that rattles every loose body/interior part. Its got me absolutely stuffed. engine & gearbox mounts are good, no part of the motor touches the body of the car, its tuned beautifully, yet vibrates like a dog shitting peach pits!
Any ideas appreciated

Try putting a strong rigid brace from the turbo down to the bottom of the block and also do the same to the plenum , Sometimes at a certain engine speed there will be some vibration and any thing hanging out off the motor like a turbo or inlet will amplify this vibration . This may not be the problem but you have to start the elimination process . ( GOOD LUCK ) .

Good idea. I hope it is that simple! There is already a brace for the turbo, but not the inlet manifold, so I'll start there.
If an exhaust is mounted too rigidly (sp?) can it transfer engine vibration badly also?

Yes , You can also try fitting a flex joint in the exhaust somewhere near the gearbox .
