What are the costs and dificulties of a 4afc to 4age conversion? Thu, 17 April 2003 05:05 Go to next message
I want to replace the 4AFC in my CS Seca for a red top 100kw 4AGE. Presuming i already have the 4AGE, gear box and looms. What other items am i going to need to get the conversion done and how much would they cost second hand? The acctual cost of installing the stuff isn't a problem. So basically my question is

How much would this conversion cost excluding Labour, Engine, Gear box and loom.

Thanks alot Smile

i presumed it would be a peice of piss to swap over. Because the redtop 4age's are in the same year SX version of the seca.

Hey, The engine mounts are basically the same so it will bolt straight in. U will have to put a electric fuel pump i'd recommend a surge tank or replace the fuel tank with a original fuel tank out of a injected corolla also you will have to put in a return fuel line. Just a quick summary. It would be a pretty easy swap.

we would it be wiser to buy a front cut of an SX corolla, than just the motor GB and loom?

The ratios are different

front cuts are the complete car from the a pillars forward. Only sometimes they dont come with panels (bonnet guards etc).

You might have to change radiator to get the outlet in the position that suits the 4age.
Get a CSi, SX or GTi fuel tank and lines. EFI pump is internal in the tank. $250
Get a CSi, SX, GTi or CS-X dash with tacho and engine light warning. $100

There is more... but seriously - its easier to get a frontcut, everything is there and untouched. That said you would be VERY hard pressed to find a 4age frontcut. 20V and GZE front cuts are the only thing you will find.
