I built a 2TG/3TG with stock internals 11.2 compression ratio with 288 degree cams and took it to 8000rpm every day for about 8 years and it was still going strong when I took it out to do my conversion . The 2TGE computer has no rev limiter , I had I running a 2TZE and used to rev to over 8000 rpm .
As far as I know the 2TGEU ECU does not have a built in revlimiter. It should be fine to Rev to 7000 RPM (The redline of the 2TG) but this is probably flogging a dead horse due to the lower compression and reduced lift of the Stock EFI versions. I would think something like 6500 RPM would be about as far as you want to go. A good dyno tune will show you were you make peak power and so you will then have a much better indication of where to shift.
As far as the point of things going bang.. The occassional 8000 RPM should be ok but is totally pointless on a stock engine and will do alot more harm than good ! A balanced and rebuilt stock bottom end tho will handle 8000 RPM regularly
