1UZ conversion update + questions

okay, my 1uz is out of the half-cut!!
you beauty!! we went about it by disconnecting every single plug that went to the engine and gearbox (boy it was a b*tch of a job!) and we finally got it out tonight!
some questions...
1. do all 1uz's have the exact same engine mounts from each different model car they came in?? mine is out of a Crown and the engine mounts sit at about 45 degree angles...do any of them (maybe Soarer) just face straight up/down??
2. the whole intake manifold is off, as well as the fuel rail and injectors and that stuff.
while these are off is there anything i should do to it apart from just clean it up a little?
3. if i was to attempt the wiring myself...where the hell do i start now?!?
4. i need pics of a Soarer sump from a 1uz. i need to know exactly where the bump is...
cheers,
Aaron.

Mate nearly every engine mount you will see is mounted at around 45 degrees as the engine moves whilst operating, it 'rocks' in the mounts in a circular fashion on the same plane as the crankshaft. If the mounts were flat, they would tear apart in no time, if you see what I mean.

have the injectors professionally cleaned/flowed
replace all gaskets and o-rings

since you'll be making up custom mount anyhow, is it really a problem what the factory ones look like?

Never heard of any starter problems. I had a similar problem, but it was because the wire to the starter wasn't thick enough.
I put in a knock sensor the other day and I really don't feel like taking the bloody intake manifold off again any time soon ('cept if it was for NOS).

yeah, i don't think i'll worry bout the starter, me too have never heard of these going.
hey knackers, nah we didn't start it coz we didn't have a fuel pump lying around so thought stuff it, it's a 1UZ, it should be alright!
guess we'll have to wait and see now hey!
and yeah, i woulda wanted to get some half decent oil in there anyway if i was going to start and that woulda meaned that we'd have to drain whatever was left, flush it a couple a times with cheap sh*t just to make sure all the "gunk" gets out and all that stuff....so we thought nah we just won't worry bout it.

Another thing I did to flush my oil, was to take off the rocker cover and clean the lobes on the cams. If the engine has been sitting for a while (mine had) then the oil can get caked on. I just used a rasor blade.
Also I changed the oil and oil filter (remote setup) 3 times in the first 500kms. I didn't use any cheap oil though as how do you flush THAT out? The ALSC did a study on which was the best oil for the 1UZ and they came out with the Caltex Halvoline synth. I bought 15L and got prepared for some oil changes.
The oil thats in there now will stay in for its alloted 5,000kms.
