18R-U Cam Specs Thu, 24 April 2003 09:06 Go to next message
hey

i'm looking for some tried and tested cam specs for a basically stock 18R-U for a friend of mine

his current mods are extractors and 2 inch exhaust so far, planning to get some head work done when the cams get ground...

nothing too wild either, to keep some drivability

i keep trying to tell him to put a 1G-GE or 1G-GZE(T)in it, but he wont listen Confused

i put a 28/65 cam in my 18rc with ported head and i added a 34 adm webber with smaller jets to suit 2 ltr from the xe/xf falcons they bolt straight onto the long base inlet manifolds with an adaptor for it... it was doing mid 16's all night.. mind you it was in a ra40 coupe celica its a good mild mod... oh yerah it had a shaved head as well... it would prolly had almost mid 8;s to 1 compression but you can get it shaved for 9 to 1 compression which would be good for it.. you can buy a single side draft webber for it but that come to around 1200 bux for everything so yad be best off stocking to the 34 adm webber

cheers, thanks for the info

although we found an awesome machine shop that i just gave a list of mods to and a desired rpm range for the cam and they did all the maths, i was well pleased

as a point of interest, i compression tested it the other day and it came out as 110psi on nearly all the cylnders... not that we ddnt expect a bad result, its been a slug lately...

...but rebuilds are always fun, beer, engine, BBQ, g/f complaining you dont pay her enough attention... is there anything else?!? Smile

P.S - now i can put the cam in while its on an engine stand... yay!
