Just wondering if I'm the only one that hates DHead's joining Toymods just to advertises their products etc and never posting a message again. Its ok if its toyota stuff etc.
No No No It just pisses me off. No No No
I have seen on a computer forum were the users are not aloud to enter the for sale section else they have been a member for 3 months and was thinking if Toymods could do something like that or go on how many post the user had done.

Just my opinion on things.

I would like to here yours.

That other computer forum would be Overclockers Australia. They did it because there were too many scammers ripping people off that just flew in and flew out.

As for here, I like the setup with the mods getting any commercial posts and getting rid of those.

Ill be honest here..
I have been reading these forums for a very very long time. since it was very small..
And to be completely honest.. Alot has changed.. It now feels very big brotherish.. I feel reserved these days with what i post incase it upsets someone from above. Im not a Member of toymods.. i allways wanted to but lately i just dont know if i still want to join anymore.. I mean i like to think i contribute to the forums for people asking questions etc.
And hell I spent like a week writing a tech article for the transfer of a GZE and E51 into a Aw11 mr2. But i havnt sent it in to be posted up purely because it seems all the old faces are disappearing and Its all getting very very serious, This club seems to becoming a pyramid type structure.
I hate the big brother attitude and i understand that you wanna protect the club.. BUT!.. U cant forget that people are going to be people.
And i have noticed an increase in people who really have no idea etc.
One thing.. I remember reading sometime back, a post by luke that simply said "Yeh, Lets make a "Small" car club".. Now i completely understand what he meant by that term..

Maybe the toymods scene has outgrown me, or ive outgrown it.
Its not a gripe.. Its not aimed to piss people off.. Im just stating what ive been noticing. And i think its a real shame..
Oh well.. I dont want to start a war... Which is why i replied into this post. I just feel people have lost sight as to why they go into these forums, work on there cars.. and drive them(to how they see fit!, Not the hierarchy)
For farks sake.. If i go into a bar.. and talk to people about how i drive does that make the owner of the bar responsible?

Also.. Just for the record. Can i please (as im sure others will) know who "Owns", "runs", this club. Just so i can be careful as to what i say to them.

Corvid this club is owned by its members not any set of individuals....there are however are group of people who are still here who are part of the original group that started this club that do take a keen interest in how the club is forming, and these people all have thier own ideas on how it should be, and are happy to voice those opinions just like all members should, and there are others who have joined later and put a lot of effort in too.

Please do not feel that you should tread on eggshells when you talk to people in the club...most of us are prepared to have a heated debate Happy Sad and still shake hands at the end, of course there are times when we all lose sight of why we joined the club and get disolusioned and caught up in some crappy thing that has pinched a nerve. Dont let this ruin youre overall experience of beeing part of a group of people who want to help others to improve their pride and joy Smile.

If you have something you think needs addressing then please either let the board members or the forum administrators know.

for reference the board members are

Rod Try
Luke Sheerman
Danny Kapustin (dont know if i spelled that right Danny?)
Joeseph Moore
Peter Luong -Max/Nark
Lukasz Szymanski - Mos
Simon Neal
Vicki Cowling
Sam DeFrancesco
Stephen Bignal

there contacts are listed here http://www.toymods.org.au/board_members.html

Corvid,

IRA11Y has sumed it all up pretty well. The only things to my Knowledge we as a club have stated we won't tolerate are encouraging Street racing and Comercial advertising.

Both these stances are in what we feel is the best interests of the club. We aren't saying don't post what you think or telling you how to drive.

These are a PUBLIC forum there were over 3.1million hits in May alone ! We just don't want people doing themselves a disservice.

If you were at the local Coffee shop, would you tell the police officer getting his donut that you just broke the law ??

We try to be a responcinle group but please don't feel big brothered thats not one anyone wants.

Thanks,

Corvid, don't worry dude. I'll spare the deep details, but this forum is nowhere near how you feel. This is a very open place where you can say what you want. Trust me, there are places that are how you feel right now, and this certainly is not one of them. There are plenty of other forums out there that are so heavily moderated you may as well not post anything for fear of either:

Pissing off a mod.
Pissing off an 'old timer to the forum'
For being laughed at, etc.

This place is not that. Hey, even Nark still takes the barina jests quite well. Smile

And as Rodney said, it's only illegal activies that are shut down, and in my whole time here including the old forums, I've only seen it happen once.

I agree, this forum is fairly easy-going,compared to a couple I've seen, and one I was invited to join a while back.

the latter, was run by a riceboy I'd fallen foul of (he was going around saying I was lucky he hadn't kicked my teeth in,which really made me laugh at the time, seeing as he'd weigh about 50kg wringing wet). I was invited by one of the moderators, who has been involved with this group for a while,as he felt I had knowledge to contribute.
I joined, and introduced myself to the group, and the next post was aimed at me: telling me to watch my step,or I'd be banned, and came complete with a set of rules for me to obey.
it was also listed within this post, that I was expected to freely share my knowledge, and to help the other members if they asked anything, and to say nothing negative about any posts others made.

I left of my own accord inside a week. I'll help people if they ask me,but I won't be exploited.

as for my involvement with the toymods group,I discovered this club right after I bought my first sprinter. I've found the members to be quite friendly, and helpful on the whole whenever I've needed something, and at the few events I've attended.

I've noticed the crowd change a little in the last year, but that's just how things are, people come and go.

toymods is a good group,in a sea of many quite average ones.
