the carb is pretty simple, not much to it... all you really need is a gasket kit, which'll have all gaskets and the accel pump in it...
they usually have a diagram too.
you can improve by removing the 'high speed valve' which will improve top end a bit by removing the large obstruction fromthe secondary throat. but this comes at a cost of possibly bogging down a bit at low rpm and high throttle... which is why it's there in the first place... i found it to help a bit, but going to a 34DMS weber was a better move for my car... it depends on the mods you have done or want to do?
i'd say give it a go... do you have a digi camera? do you have a vacuum operated high speed valve or a mechanical one (with the counterweight?)

well at the moment im just thinking of things that i can do to get the little 4k running tip top. im gonna get the rebuild kit and go from there i spose. my mate said they can get pretty tricky so i thought id seek help before i jump in to it. so youd recommend removing the high speed valve then yeh? i have got a digi cam but could get one if need be, why do you ask?

yeah, the diagram in the kit helps a lot, as does a manual for the car.. the carbs are pretty much all the same for the K series..
cam to see exactly which carb you have.. give it a go, if you need a hand, lemme know. i live in alexandria, and go to camden sometimes...
or you can take pics of stuff if you need help....
yeah, i'd recommend taking out the high speed valve... take the flap off and leave the shaft in there so there are no vac leaks... not totally sure if it's ok for the vac operated ones, but a pic will tell me...
