corolla manifold on 18rg Sun, 27 April 2003 12:16 Go to next message
does anybody know which corolla inlet manifold bolts onto an 18rg? which model and engine it is? i have heard one bolts on and was wondering if anybody knows this which one it is.

There is no Corolla inlet manifold which will bolt onto an 18R-G. I guess you could cut-and-shut a Corolla manifold to match the 18R-G inlet ports, but it would be a lot of work since Corolla engines are pretty small; look at a 4A next to an 18R and you'll see what I mean.

yeah... some guy had gotten a carb corolla manifold and aparently put one on so i wa sjust asking.. prolyl an imported one

This particular engine, an 18RGU, was found in a Japanese junkyard with about 30,000 miles on it. Crankshaft bearings and gaskets were replaced with a combination of locally supplied 18RC parts and 18RG items obtained through Toyota in England. The dual Weber DCOE look-alike carburetors had self-destructed and were replaced with a Corolla manifold and single Weber. The intake restricts power, but one can hang in fifth gear at 25 mph, floating like a DC-3 on landing approach.
