OT - Wedding Cars
|

Hi Guys and Gals
As some of you already know I am getting married next Feb and I am after some mean wedding cars.
My mate has some Caddy's and an awesome Chevy but my sister used them for her wedding so I don't think I am going to use them for mine too.
So I am looking for some real tuff fat cars (not Sprinters or Cressidas - note the usage of the word 'tuff')
If anyone can help please reply.

HAHA Chuck a couple of bails of hey in the back and I can be a country bumkin!
The MR2 is going good - stupd radiator cap died a few weeks back and the water was spraying all over the motor. When I looked in the rear vision mirror I was freaking - thought I had blown something. Then I got home and there was no oil in the engine bay as I would have expected. It was just steam, thankfully.

Congratulations,
Maybe you should post a suggestion of the kind of cars you are after - that may help, rather than just posting what you don't want.
Good Luck Stew

Phil,
Both Rod and I extend our congratulations to you and your fiance'.
With reference to the Wedding cars - Rod and I had a Mark V Jaguar and for the Flower Girl and Page Boy we had a 1951 4CV Renault (Rod's Mums Car).
The cars really depend on the type of wedding, we had a formal wedding so our cars were pretty formal.
If I had the chance to do it again - I would have to say that I would choose 1934 Ford Coupes or Walkinshaw Commodores. My mums neighbour had the Commodores as a wedding car and it was pretty cool.
If you cannot decide on cars - what about every girls fairy tale - a horse and cart!......
Well anyway, whatever you both decide I am sure you will love the cars the day.
Congrats

I'd be staying clear of horse and cart. I've seen on tv about a couple who had one at their wedding. Something spooked the horses and they bolted. The bride suffered neck injuries and was rushed to hospital. The priest married them at the bedside while tubes were being stuck in her.

HAHA - Ok some funny comments and good ideas there.
Thank you for the congrats.
Teenz - I think I possibly may be able to line up a fat 34 like you were saying that is chromed underneath and polished to the point that I think even the bolts in the places you cant see are polished. So that may be a go'er.
I think when I think of wedding cars, I think big fat V8. Although I drive a 4 banger and love them - nothing sounds and looks better than some old street machine with a big fat V8 rumbling up the street. So I guess this is what i will be going for. (The dodge viper would be awesome - where do i get one???)
I was thinking horse and cart - but after that story about the bride ending up in hospital I might leave that down the bottom of the list.
Anyway - thanks for the replies pple.

I sat in a viper at a friends workshop... only prob is that the pedals were on the passenger side and the wheel on the other (in the middle of a conversion - still could be driven!) I didn't think that much of it in the flesh, they look better in pictures...
The 99 race model ferrari (same as the one in the race series) was much more interesting - it's brakes were bigger than my wheels!

If you like Vipers then go to the USA. Plenty there.
Me personally, I don't like Vipers. Sure they look good. But sticking a massive truck-based engine into a car isn't my idea of making a good car. All the individual parts have to compliment each other. A Viper is just a big engine, every other part starts to fail once you push it. It wouldn't be much of a good drive either with that massive lump of iron stuck out the front.
Sorry to burst your bubble, just my opinion.
Phil: What about a couple of Ferraris? They cost about $2.5k each per day though....

Sacrilege!!! I dont think the quality of Vipers is that great, that goes without saying. That big lump you refer to is not iron!!! Its a big lump of aluminium. Lamborghini made it for Dodge! Only thing is it had to stay old-skool because they wanted to give the "bird" (as it has been written) to other, high-tech car manufacturers Supposed to handle pretty well too. They sure did/are shaking up the Porsche's in the GTP.

The engine is matched to the chassis, they still do pretty well for a big FR car considering they havent had the development $$ and dont have the exotic mid/rear engined layout of the Porsches and Ferraris.
Overhead cams would be nice, but then you would lose the whole point of the Viper. Have you seen the new Viper? They made the engine BIGGER! Personally I'd like something smaller with a bit more technology (1UZFE comes to mind) but its part of the Vipers character.
As for the brakes...yeah, they murder them, thats why they were able to chnage the brakes for dinner plate sized Harrops if you look now.

seeming as its a special day, you want someting exotic
cant go past a nice red ferrari, sure it might be expensive to hire ( think its like $400 for 1/2 day, dunno was in the paper a year or so ago) but just think of the memories.

The 21R-C is hardly massive. It also contributed to why the car was such a piece of shit before the engine conversion....
Anyway, this has gone a bit off topic... Sorry for jacking the thread Phil!
Redline, last time I asked about hiring a 355 I was told that it'd be $2500 for a day... $400 for half a day would be AWESOME but are you really sure about that?

No problems,
I like the chatter.
Don't know about $2500 for a car for a day - dont care what it is....actually the McLaren would be the only car I'd consider for that price.
I can get my hands on Ferraris and Lambos anyhow through people I know. I was more thinking of unique classics such as Teenz suggested; 34 rod. I am aiming for that currently.
