AFM Questions Mon, 28 April 2003 13:49 Go to next message
Have a friend that has had 2 x AFMs fitted to her Land Cruiser after it backfired and destroyed the AFM....!

Now has a better mechanic looking after it, but at $800 per AFM it has been an expensive exercise...and it happened again....!

Does anyone know which AFMs are interchangeable..? Her engine is a 1FZFE. WE all know the Lexus V8 AFM is interchangeable with the 7mgte AFM. Is there a site anywhere that deals with AFM interchangeability....?

Dont suppose anyone has a second hand one floating around...?

Thanks

Wayne

I presume this thing is running with a crappy impco or amos ring style LPG conversion, which explains the backfiring?

You can always go with the cheap nasty trick of a backfire sock, with is basically a piece of wetsuit material wrapped around a bit of pipe in the intake pipe. If the thing sneezes hard, it's (supposed to) break the sock instead of the AFM or airbox.

Or fix the bloody gas kit, theres another option Evil or Very Mad
