18r-c is playing up..... again

Hey guys,
I've got this really annoying problem. I'm driving along and the car will just stall, no warning at all. It doesn't slowly die, it just falls over all at once. Then about 3 secs later, she is up and running again and all is fine. I don't even have to crash start, she'll just start all by herself!
Things I have done (or got someone else to do )...
Changed leads, plugs, coil, points, distributer cap, fuel filter, air filter, oil filter, oil etc...
Checked for lose wires etc.
I am running out of ideas, I have an immobiliser that cuts fuel, and it seems to be running fine, but maybe malfunctioning, but I don't think so.
Does anyone else have any ideas on what could be wrong before I smash it?
Thanks,
Libby

Does it do this while your driving or when your stopped? Acouple of ideas:
1. Make sure your needle and seat in the carby is ok ie adjusted correctly, if this is ok check your pump that it is supplying enough pressure and clean the lines.
2.Try checking the ballest resistor its normally on top of the coil and these break down after a while and make the car do some weird things.

How does your immobiliser cut the fuel supply? Have you replaced the fuel pump with an electric one or do you have some other setup?
Can this easily be bypassed to rule it out as a problem completely?

Yea, I'm going to dive under the dash tomorrow and unplug is all together. Hopefully that will disable it, rather than set it to 'On' constantly!
Well, I assume that it is hooked up to the fuel, since the car will start then die straight away when the alarm is on. I wouldn't know what else they (Brisbane Car Sound) would have hooked it up to.

Usually they will immobilise something on the ignition side, eg. the +ve line to the coil or something like that.
Some alarms will let the car start before cutting the line as well.
As to whether the problem lies with the immobiliser circuit, I guess you will find out tomorrow

There are two power feeds for the ignition coil; one is activated while cranking, then the other one takes over. It sounds like the immobiliser is only intercepting one of those circuits, which explains why you can start the engine but it dies immediately.

im not sure entirely if this might be it, but have you checked the connection to the fuel cut solenoid in the carby? Perhaps the electrical signal, connections or the solenoid itself are playing up.
