If i don't drive my rolla for a few days it gets a slightly sticky residue buildup on some of the plastic interior trim, such as shift knob and computer handset.
What's up with that?

Tell your sister to stop sitting on the gear knob

The factory gear knob on my last car used to sweat in hot weather as well as the steering wheel. It must be something Toyota put into the rubber compound that leaks out when heated. It feels awful to touch... not wet, not sticky, but grimy/oily.

You'll find it is more than likely coming from cheap trim spray that gets used in interior refits and repairs. Advice to all those looking to do interior triming - research the glue used, once it's there it will be there for the life of the car!
