Corolla GP Turbo?

Hey all,
Quick question, on the way to work this morning, I saw a Corolla GP Turbo. It was white and had pop-up headlights...
Just interested in what engine it has and when they were made!? Never seen one before.

From memory, they're a 1.5 SOHC turbo.. (i think!) and were made around 85-87 or so???
Pretty sure that the only ones which made it into Australia are imports as well..

I think it's a 4E-FTE.
The Corolla GP Turbo is basically the same car as a Starlet GT Turbo I think.

Not a 4E-FTE!!
And different platform to the starlet..... though you can put a 4E-FTE into them quite easily!

yeah, they had a single cam version, they were similar to the ep71? starlets though right?

Just today i spotted a strange looking Rolla.
The car was white, in excellent condition, hatchback and had pop up headlights.
The badging said Corolla II and on the mouldings it said 12 valve EFi.
The shape of the car was very wedge-like. I wish i had my digi camera at the time!
Anyone know about this car?
