AE101 GZE into AE82 Speedo Tue, 29 April 2003 23:04 Go to next message
Tried a search, but didnt really get what i was looking for so here goes.

Will the speedo sensor in the gearbox of a std 4AGE (mechanical) fit into the gearbox of an LSD AE101 gearbox (electronic).

I havent even looked at it yet as it is on my mates car, but he wanted the info before he gets into it. Im think that he might need some kind of converter, if someone has a link to some guide for getting the instruments to function that would be great, or if you can post here how to do it that would also be great.

Cheers

Mick

The mechanical speedo sensor of a "Std" 4AGE are different from a AE101 GZE gearbox whether its LSD or not.
Reason being, the 4AGE are "C-series" gearboxes.
The GZE boxes are "E-Series". The speedo sensors are of different shape.

The ae101 as you mentioned has an electronic speedo sensor. Whereas the ae92 e-series g/box has a mechanical speedo sensor. I suggest you try and find one and swap it. Otherwise'you would have to use the ae101 instrument cluster (speedo).

Mike,
I'll make it easy for you, do you want to swap my mechanical one for your electronic one? cause I need to go the other way, mechanical -> electronic (AE92 box into an AE101)save us looking around...

Ok, well in ure ae101 e-series gearbox. You need an AE92 GZE e-series mechanical speedo sensor. Install it. Your ae82 speedo cable will fit.
