M Engine Flywheels

Anyone know if the early 70's M engine flywheels (curved rockercover) are different to the later one's (5M ,etc). I've got what I think is a 5M clutch that in know way will bolt up to the early 2M flywheel.

Matt is that you? You wouldn't happen to be about to put Sean's engine in would you?
Do you have the 225 mm or the 236mm clutch? To know, measure the diam of your clutch plate or the pressure plate casting.
The 2M flywheel will bolt straight up to your 5M. It will use a 225 mm diam pressure/clutch plate with a 40mm 'grab area'. Cheers Dave.

Hey Dave
Yeh, this is for Sean's engine.
The clutch is about 235mm and the flywheel about 225. So it appears I have the incorrect flywheel as I would prefer to keep the larger clutch. Is the 236mm flywheel std 5M?, I may have to go to the wreckers and get one. Unless someone out there is giving one away.

Matt, you'll need to track down a flywheel off an MA61 5M. I didn't even know there was a 236 mm diam clutch till a month or so ago (thanks Ed).
Has your friend made the ECU to run the thing yet?

The ECU's one hold for now but still planned. Initially I will use the Haltec that Sean was using.
The car is still a couple of months from being on the road.
I've filled all the holes in the engine bay and given it a coat of paint. Hidden the loom, relocated the battery to the boot and moved the washer bottle. I've polished up the rocker cover and starting to piece together a new plenum.
To much effort for a Corona Mk2, I'll say.

Matt, your Mk2 looked great! What are you doing with the old plenum and what are you doing for the new one?

I've used the runners off the old plenum and modified the original base plate. Deleting the twin 13B throttle bodies mounted on the side and just running a single mounted on the front.
So far the plenum is cardboard until I sort the clutch out and get the engine in so I can check for clearance with the hood.
I got a ceramic clutch with a heavy duty plessure plate and am running the W50 g/box till it blows up or I get the cash to go Supra.
You got much Mk 2 stuff you dont want?

Sounds good. Send some pics when it's done. I just bought a 2 door, so I'll need to see what I need just yet.
