[SOLD] Celica/Corolla Springs + Extractor [SOLD] Sun, 04 May 2003 04:36 Go to next message
I have short (not cut, factory) springs to fit ST162 Celica for sale. I think they would fit Corollas of similar age also. I don't know the manufacturer, they are green, I took 'em off 'cause I was sick of scraping everywhere (as you do when you are low) and am looking just to put some Koni's with my stock springs.

See pics.

Also for sale, origional factory extrator manifold. I put some Berkley extractors in and have these left over... They are in perfect condition.

So if you have cracked your pipes, and don't want to for out heaps, you can have them for cheap.

Make me an offer.....

Rob

I reckon it is at least 1'' lower.

I am sure it will fit an ST184 Celica, as we share the same manual from Hayes, and they dont' seem to discriminate in that section of the manual.

AE92, very very similar in many areas, had a friends AE92 we were going to put them on, but never got around to it. I can give you diameters etc if you need.

I have added a picture of my Celica when it had them on, so you can guess how much lower it was.

I also had them checked by Pedders for sagging etc all when I bought the car and they said they were absolutely fine, but they were unable to run a shock test, as it was too low Smile

Hope this helps...

Alright, i have never looked into lowering my car before. Do i just need the springs, or do i have to change shocks or something as well? How much would your average mecanic charge to install them?

How much are you asking for them

I would like about $120 for them all.

You don't need new shocks at all, and your old ones will continue to operate no worries, as the extra stiffness of the springs makes up for the softer stock shocks, so you don't have to if you can't afford it. Springs are cheap, shocks are not...btw if anyone knows where to get cheap Konis let me know.

Things about loweredness.

a) You can go around corners really fast

b) You can't go over big bumps fast

c) some bumps you can't go over at all without scraping (like nasty driveways)

d) but the car looks very very sweet

d) if you decide to raise it, you MAY have to replace your shocks. small chance, but possible, depends how you drive. Also your strut housings, particualrly in the front take more of a beating, just physics... force absorbed over a lessor distance, you can get reinforcers for cheap I think.. anybody???

I changed my shocks myself, took me half a day with some crummy screw-type spring compressors + a bottle of brake fluid + a wheel alignment. DO NOT forget to get a wheel alignment Smile $55 for 4 wheels from most places.

I have no idea how much a mechanic would charge. Depends where you live, even in Sydney, what part. For a mechanic with proper hoists and compressors etc they could do it in 2-3 hours easy.

so there is my essay on shocks.... hope it helps

Rob
