can newer model(93-98) celica seats fit into older model (83-85) celicas without any changes to the seat rails of not

I've spoken to someone who fitted SW20 MR2 seats to his Celica XX (MA61). From memory he drilled the old seats off from the seat rails and had the MR2 seats welded to the seat rails. I can send you a pic if you like. They look really comfy.
