How much do R154 gearboxes usually go for ?
I know it depends upon wether cluch plate, shifter..etc are included or not, but a rough price either way of what you guys have seen advertised, or what you have bought would be greatly appreciated.

I have had three in my time as a Supra owner.
The first one I bought was $900 for the box only
The second one I bought was $1000 for box/shifter/clutch/flywheel/tailshaft
The other one I sold was a complete conversion (pedals and all) for $1500.
That said, in my travels I priced them up from numerous companies and was quoted anywhere from $1200 to $2800 for a box with a 7M bellhousing. Expect to pay more for one with a bellhousing to suit a 1/2JZ as they're a lot more rare.

mrshin--->
apparently all sales on TOYMODS need to be personal items.
So, I'm lucky I own a Jap import with a R154 in it...
who wants to buy 'my' JAP IMPORT R154 gearbox ?
I also possibly have a "spare" one in my garage.
Includes belhousing to suit 7MGTE engine, plus shifter.
I will post a thread with photos soon. Just thought I'd find out what they are going for.
So, anyone want to make an offer ??
other wise I will set a price when I take photos and stuff.

My tips for buying (anything):
Ring around ALL of the importers
Be prepared to buy one the second they say it is available
Be prepared to pay cash
Never buy anything when you're desparate for it
Wait until a buyer is desparate to sell
Also, keep an eye out for private sales. Generally private sellers are selling for a reason and they generally need the money. Either they've written their car off, blown up the motor and have bought a half cut to replace it, they urgently need money, they have decided the box they bought is too much effort to fit, etc...
Being an item that people regard as expensive, a seller probably won't get a lot of GENUINE enquiries, so let them know you're interested early in the piece.
Wait a while, then remind them you're there with your low offer but are a guaranteed cash sale. One in the hand is worth two in the bush. It's all good to say they're worth $2000, but when you're a private seller it's hard to get the exposure to a large customer base that an importer would.
You may get it, you may not. Like I said, don't buy when you're desparate or you'll overpay. Be prepared to let a few go. Even though they're rare, they are still out there. Wait
