hi all

got the iggte going like a rocket its in a hilux ute.Till i let a so called machanic have a look at the cold start idle.Now when the second turbo come on to boost it back fires and break down real bad. any one out there got any ideas what may be wrong.

Sounds like you might be hitting boost cut. How much boost are you running?

running about 10 psi but it would rev hard be for no probs till this f////en nutter got hold of it

Well if a mechanic screwed up your engine I suggest you take it back and demand he fix it for you.

wehat u mean by 2nd turbo
they both boost up together at same time

check for air leaks
or maybe even bad spark plugs

check that he hasnt swapped em for shitty ones its been doen b4

if its electrical i can possibly look at it for u

check your spark plug condition, & gaps. you may need to close them down to 0.8-0.9mm, but I wouldnt really expect that you'd need to with only 10psi

Backfiring when boost comes on can be caused by leaning out , check your fuel filter and pressure .

yeah if he was playing with the cold start(stepper motor) he may have knocked the vacum line to the fuel reg. also check that once the car is warm the stepper motor is closing off.

hi all
Thanks for all the replys.Dont no what the prob is at the moment but will tell you all when i find it.I think the bugman is onto the prob will check it out.

ps is the stepper motor on top front of the plenum chamber

Well iam a bit :blush:embaressed for baging my machanic(sorry)
The problem turn out to be a lose wirer (the main wiring loom from the coil)one wire caused all the trouble Rolling Eyes . well its going great now.Well thanks again boys for your advice & suggestions.
