Good shock/strut suggestions?

After talking to Nark on the OCC list - who swapped from Monroe Sensatracs to Konis and said the difference was big - I'm thinking about upgrading my dampers. I don't feel my Monore GTs control the springs well enough. I don't want to make my car completely uberstiff tho
RA65, Kings ~1" (or whatever drop their regular lowering springs are), poly bushings up front, Monore GT shocks/struts. The Monroes were the first thing I bought after I bought the car 'cos the shocks were leaking and I had no money.
Any suggestions or comments? Any idea of prices? If anyone has gone from Monroes to something else I'd like to hear what you have to say!

Monroe/Pedders/etc. tend to vary from car to car - some cars they get the valving passable, others are a complete balls up. Throw in a set of Konis, play with the valving till you're happy, you'll be amazed how long she'll hang on

Thanks. I haven't priced Konis yet Adjustables sound like what I really want, but they're also $$$$$
The Monres were ok with stock springs btw, if a little too soft.
Surely someone else on the board has some opinions on dampers?
