final decision 1ggte => sa63 will be done asap Tue, 06 May 2003 04:29 Go to next message
as the thread says ive settled on my engine choice. im gonna put a 1g into my car as soon as i can. i'm gonna rebuild the engine then put it into the car.

i was thinking of putting a larger capacity sump in and get the turbo's rebuilt.

who on this forum has done the conversion themselves and where is the best place to get an engine from.

opinions welcome

cheers
mat

i was thinking of putting a larger capacity sump in to keep the oil temp down a bit and get the turbo's rebuilt and highflowed to accept more airflow.

Get an oil cooler if you're worried about it, little extra capacity because of the fluid in the cooler and the lines, as well as the extra cooling. Don't think I'd heard of anyone having problems with it though.

They came out of GA70 Supras and GX20 Soarers.

Make sure you read up on all the info on this site about 1G-GTEs (there's a lot of it!).

I find it best not to e-mail importers/wreckers and call them instead. Even though they advertise email they rarely seem to reply as you've found out yourself.

Here are a few I know of, not all in Syd but I found it cheaper to buy my 3s-gte in SA and have it shipped to Syd.

Try some of those, but as I said best to phone them up.

Cheers

I found it great to deal with Japanese Motorsport via e-mail. I haven't actually had a phone conversation with them yet.

I paid $2k for my engine package (engine/gearbox/wiring/ancillaries) and that came with a pair of Blitz turbos, best thing is they look like stock ones so it shouldn't have a big problem with registration Razz

I got just an engine package, they don't do many/any front cuts from what I gather.

hia ben
well it cost 1400$ for the front cut(now that was cheap) and a fair bit more
to get it on the road. But it was worth it man going great
can't wait to get the money together for the new rear end.
PS sorry its a 1992 hilux ute 2x2 and the rear end is a stocker
but it holds the power ok just got the wrong gear ratio in it.
but having so good fun in it.

i had my 1/2 cut for $1000 Smile altho was auto and in the end i sold all my car bits (bar engine crane and tools)

Thinking of what can be next, as i'm driving a new car now with 0% mods and a 1.5Lt to boot and as you can guess much less exciting to drive
