Going price for a 1ggte ra23/28 Tue, 06 May 2003 10:02 Go to next message
Has anyone seen a 1ggte/3tgte ra23 or 28 for sale - and what range could i expect to pay if i was to get one that was tidy - converted - running , but not show quality ?

Just thinking atm - of another classic celica but with newer running gear later on down the track

Now ive had the Gt4 - Im not sure i could step back into carby mode - unless i built another totally wild 2t/3tg, and i would like a plaything seeing the Gt4 is the dailky driver + alreay pretty damn pokey as is

and we have him back before he could even change his avatar ppl

Smile

as for your question

For, $8000 a 3T-GTE, $10000 a 1G-GTE conversion with a nice paintjob...., engineered.....with all upgrades.... ie: Brakes, Suspension, Seats, wheels etc....and maybe a bit of interior work as well
for the prices stated above they would be damn clean......

Thats my opinion anyway

I paid 6k for mine, engineered as is. (No Simmons though). Reasonable condition, a few little spots of rust coming through the 2pac paint though. I recon thats about what it was worth. Everyone who has done the conversion tells me how cheep I got it. All depends on your view point.

It would have to be something special to get 10 grand for it.

There was a red 1G-GTE RA28 for sale at the last dyno day Looked like a really neat car, I think he wanted 9k for that

anthony got the best bargain there is to be had

i disagree, rod sold his for 8k and that was with no engineers cert or interior mods

The red one at dyno day look ok if ya like red on the old school cars however the interior was pretty orginal if i can remember rightly

Actually, it was my car - but I will forgive you.

We got an obsene price for the car - any anyone will tell you that....

The Red 28 at the Last Dyno Day was immaculate... I actually tried to find the person who owned it to buy it, he wanted $9000. It was the series engine before mine (Series II) I think and the interior had been completely re-done in leather look and cloth....very nice indeed.

Pay no more than $7000 engineered.....that is all it is worth regardless of how much we know the conversion side of things cost. You never get your money back, Rod and I were just lucky to break even....

Hope this helps....

HAH! noo - im looking into another project that doesnt drive as well as a Gt4 Wink

I miss having no brakes + cornering ability that much - that i want to near on commit suicide in a 1ggte Ra28 * laughs *

Gt4 is and will be the daily driver - but i still like the old ones - always have - always will - cept this time - it must have some modern technology under it - Ie EFI turbo ..

The turbo bug has bitten hard :)- boost is good - and theres nothing liek a celica Sleeper - with boost to really hammer it home that the old toyotas are great

ta for the help so far - i guess the 3tgte ta22 would still be the best budget blaster of the lot - instead of 1ggte ra series ?

Im looking at the average price as im still yet decided whether to invest large $$'s in the Gt4 and make it a totally wild 90's allwheel drive rice burner - or keep it relatively moderate ( no major power ups - just handling and looks ) and put the money into something i can get my hands dirty with at the odd drag/show and shine/ club event for shits and giggles

10K large is pretty much double what im looking to pay for another car to tinker with - though obviously if the right one comes up - and is worth it - id look at it down the track

I guess another avenue would be a near finished project ?

I tend to agree with yo on the standard brakes. Fortunately it is not too hard to fix that up. I am using MA61 brakes in mine and they work really well. Not quite the Hilux/Pergeot stuff but heaps better.

I wouldn't have thought a 1G install would be any more expensive than a 3T. I guess you can use the celica box behind a 3T ??
