Supra 14x7 rims on AE86 Tue, 06 May 2003 11:55 Go to next message
Have supra 14x7's on my sprinter. have 195/60 tires. Currently they scrub on the front bumper under load eg. heavy braking and cornering. Car has stock suspension... Is there a cure for this problem? any help appreciated thanks

They are probably too wide, and the profile is fat. A 55 profile would also scrub from experience, and this is with hardened suspension.

Your solution would result in how much is in your pocket, either:

Change the wheels to less wide items such as 6.5, with 50 profile -won't scrub.

Change/harden your suspension (but this still would scrub).

Get your guards rolled (probably not worth it without suspension mods).

Hope it helps!

Audioslaver, it's not the guards it rubs on... just the plastic front bumper. Ive heard changing camber angles helps? can anyone confirm this? Thanks anyway audioslaver

Try adjusting your caster rods, you can move the wheel back (away from bumper), but be careful it doesnt hit the back of the wheel arch when you move it. You will have to get a wheel alignment after, so probably better to get it done at a supension place. Prob cost you 50 bucks.

I had the opposite problem, the wheels were hitting the back of the wheel arch, and i had to move it towards the bumper.

Find a different way Dont adjust the castor rod. By moving the wheel back you will reduce castor which will mean lighter steering and less camber when you are cornering. Sprinters need as much castor as possible.

True... it worked out ok for me though as I was able to increase my caster.

Couldnt you just shave a bit off the bumper?
