What is the better ECU to use to run an 18rgeu. would I be better of getting a 2tgeu or use a 22re ecu. I can get my hands on either so I need to know what would be the better choice.
thanks

Definitely 2T-GEU; it's practically identical to the 18R-GEU ECU so it will be easy to do.

Even though you have the ecu now. just some further info.
I belive the 2tg air flow meter is smaller I could be wrong does anyone have the measurements?
So although electrically the 2tg system is almost identical, using an air flow meter from the 2tg on the 18rg could cause some tunning problems that go beyond spring and air bypass adjustments.
If you don't have an airflow meter use the one off a 22re or 2se leaded version. These are the same size and have the same out put according to my measurements.

Just out of interest, what ignitor and coil assembly are u planning to use Blaze?
it has come down to the ignitor in my setup is the only thing stopping the engine from running, as it is not sending the spark signal to the ECU!! im using a bosch aftermarket-type ignitor that came with the complete loom, but i dont know what coil was being used with this in the previous car. We've tried a couple different Coils, no success. the ignitor is not working with the factory 18rge coil so gona try a ignitor/coil pack from a cressida. would've gone the 22re pack but a mate has this spare (5Me? maybe). He seems to think they are almost the same on all the early toyo electric ignition systems, i guess it just doesnt work with a bosch ignitor unless u hae a bosch-type elec. coil.. or the ignitors stuffed.
Anyone had this problem or experiences with the old electric ignition systems on these motors? is the cressida ignitor going to have any drawbacks if it does run the engine?
Cheers!!
Guy

I'm using a 5M-E ignitor on my 18R-GEU and it works fine.

Ok on the toyota igniters there is a yellow wire this is for the taco signal if you connect the IG wire to this you should get a signal to trigger your ECU .
