just thinking,
looking around at the state of forum marshalling lately, ill wonder if theyll hold to their consistency, and delete this thread...
could be interesting to see if it lasts, or whether, despite being totally off topic, they keep it cause its not controversial.....

Yeah actually it could be Rosanne. It's unreal how serious people take bingo! It was $16 to go in it and bugger all chance of getting a prize (all 3 of us didn't get anything) and the people that did get prizes got 2 mars bars!
I can get a game of golf at Murry Downs for $15 and it's a professional golf course. Or about 100k's of driving flat out.
And isn't the General Discussion ment for General Discussion? It can be non-car related can't it?

I feel moderating threads like the ones that were deleted is a small price to pay for being able to access the wealth of info on toyotas, and cars in general.
I mean seriously if your that eager to have a discussion of the existance of gods, devils, the boogie man and michael jackson there are plenty of other places on the net and in real life that you can go to talk.
Most people can agree that this is one of the rare forums on the web where u can get the info u need on your car without the (or with very little) toolage factor, this is all due to the moderating standards that may annoy us from time to time.
as i said, small price to pay for solid info and no toolage factor.

Here here
I agree. I have no idea how many times this place has helped me with my car...countless!
I started this link and I know it wasn't car related but I really wanted to find out the answer.
If your in here for genuine car related things you wouldn't have opened this thread and nothing vulgar or hurtful is included here. Unlike some of the ones that have been deleted...by the looks of the subjects.

I got nothing against off topic threads, until they start gripes.
like the jesus/devil one, anything asking for advice on fords or holdens (there are forums for that kind of thing!)
that said, I'd love to get stuck into a debate over some of the deleted arguments.
I'm going to go take my baby for a drivies

oh, hey, ive got zero problem with OT threads as long as they are a profitable read - at least for someone! - not just a shitstir or a dick pulling comp.
i've just noticed the mods have canned a few OT threads recently (unheared of a few months ago), and whilst this one is OT, its very tame, and i was just curious to use it as a barometer of the Mods' hard line... see what theyd let slide, or if they were going to get super serious, and shitcan ALL OT threads...
cheers

Perhaps you might want to read Danny's guidelines as to what is acceptable in threads and why such OT threads would or wouldn't be deleated.
These threads are moderated fairly... we just have to remember that there are a vast amount of people that visit these forums and therefore such things as Race, religion, sex and so on are not acceptable, purely as to not offend anyone. I'm not having a go here... I just remember Danny posting the guidelines not very long ago.

Moderation of the Forum is indeed a hard task and you would probably find Ed that threads have been deleted because someone or several people have reported the thread to the moderator.
This is a public forum and therefore viewable by ALL ages....we have probably just noticed the moderator's presence lately due to the fact that the "Toolage" factor has increased.
I frequent quite a few forums and I would have to say that these would be one of the MOST leaniently moderated forums around.
The board takes a back seat to most things because they have that attitude that they are there for help and guidance.
I am sure that your comments are seen by the board, but just in case drop them a line and they are always more than willing to answer any questions....
Hugs

heck, even drop us a line and we'll talk toyota until your ears fall off!
Its true, the board is very approachable on this subject, or any for that matter.
As far as the recent moderation spurt, Tina and a few others have hit the nail on the head. We are here to promote a positive Toyota Community that benefits all, and Danny et all like to keep it that way as best we can.
Cheers for the possitive feedback guys and girls.

If you look on the main forums page(where you can see all the forums)
General Discussion
Discuss Cars, the Weather, anything
...it says anything, so i assume as long as its not controversial she's all good.
That is unless they lied and "anything" doesnt actually mean anything, but in fact somthing else

whoa...
i think ive TOTALLY given off the wrong impression here
i dont think ive EVER been quoted so much in anythread ever (is taht a bad thing )
i agree with everything said above. absolutely everything. a) these forums are moderated VERY fairly, and probably contain the least shit ive seen on many forums (except perhaps PF - but then again - i dont look at the general discussion). b) the increase in deletions & barrs etc is due to increased toolage, and totally warranted. c) general discussion is just fine with me, as i said, as long as its not offensive, and someone gets 'something' out of it - be that a laugh, some advice, or just some curisoity.
all i ever meant to say is - the mods have recently decided to 'up' the level of moderation. it would appear that there will be a zone of no tolerance when it comes to some OT threads (where they used to let it slide) all as a mechanism with which to improve the quality of the overall content of the forums - and try and get rid of the dead wood and toolage factor. so, this being a TOTALLY OT thread with ZERO to do with cars - i was wondering if this was OT enough to fall under the mods zero tolerance line in the sand. obviously not, and thats a good thing
and, fwiw... ive been talking to danny quite a lot of late, and rod, and there is certainly no lack of understanding or communication between us.
cheers

I don't think a bingo thread would offend too many people...

At this stage OT posts are being allowed as long as they fit the guidelines and are not offensive or causing problems.
This thread provides more information on this:
http://www.toymods.org.au/msgboard/index.php?t=msg &th=12786&start=0&rid=58&S=a603271 4a2cf199659514b51e27eb712
The status of the general section is being discussed as to whether OT threads will be allowed at all due to the increase in 'toolage'.
Yes moderatorship is being increased and a no tolerance policy is being adhered to - bannings have already taken place.
We are undergoing 'spring-cleaning' to clean up the forums so will be coming down quickly and hard until such time as things start to change for the better.
Stay tuned for an official notice outlining this policy and the forum guidelines.
Feedback is welcomed but the board is united in taking a firm stance on this.
Problems with threads/other users need to be reported or emailed to the board or a moderator so that action can be taken rather than you trying to address the problem in your own way publicly.
