I find it interesting when toyota enthusiasts come out of the woodwork like this and get into a magazine without having a presence in Toymods CC, especially if it has to do with 1G's.
Does anyone know this car?

AFAIK, Arthur sold SICTOY to a block around the Merrylands area about 3-4 years ago.
This would be a new car. Either that or he bought SICTOY back.

im pretty sure you can have the same plate in a different state so you could have 'siktoy' in qld and somebody interstate can have the same one, as the states car registry is NOT linked up
also, interestingly enough if a car is stolen in qld it can not be re-registered as it is on the qld transport stolen cars registry but can be registered in ANY other state, this applies to all states which really sucks for stolen car owners and in particualar people who live near state borders

This is as far as I can read:
Quote:
The G Whiz
A slick TA22 Toyota Celica with 1G twin-turbo power!
Words by Michael Knowling
Think of Celica's nowadays and you'll likely come up with AWD GT4s or the current VTi-L screamer. There was a time, though, when Celica was little more than a good-looking car with a dearth of power and roly-poly handling - that's the early TA-series.
Some thirty odd years after it rolled off the production line, though, this TA22 (the earliest Celica model ever imported to Australia) has undergone some major character changes....
Eddy Koimanis picked up this blue beauty about eight years ago "as a beaten up stocker that was ready to go to the wreckers." It's just as well Eddy was there to save the day. You see, Eddy had already owned a TA-series Celica with an imported 3T-GTEU 1.8-litre turbomotor in it. As you might imagine, adding more than 100 horsepower to the standard 80-odd horsepower output ensures the rear-drive Celica is a bundle of fun to pedal!
The new acquisition initially followed in the footsteps of Eddy's other Celica. The standard 1500cc 2T mill was torn out and replaced by a 3T-GTEU 1.8-litre DOHC turbo and, while he was at it, he followed through with a full body tear down and bare metal respray. The colour that hides those naked panels is "Lagoon Blue" - 70 percent blue pearl and 30 percent lilac. Eddy did all the work himself at home - as he says "not bad for a concreter by trade..."
End Quote.
So I guess it could be SIKTOY but I don't think it is besides the guys name is "Eddie" not Aurthur !
Here the pics I can see :
So now everone is interested in this lead tipped missile we all have to fork out $3 at Autospeed and have a read !

Good point Rod
Fitting a 1GGTE in a TA22 must have a negative effect on the cars weight distrubution.

Well the point im getting at is if the 23 is longer at the front ...the engine sits further forwards hence throwing handling out......so a 22 will handle better with a 1G ...as oppose to a 23....assuming the firewall was moved back ??

Mani,
The xA23 is longer in both the front end after the windscreen, and in wheel base. The key factor here is the amount of weight in front of the front wheels.
In a xA23 the 1G sits great in the bay and when mounted to the rear of the bay it has a nice even weight distribution. In a TA22 there will be a larger amount of the engine in front of the front wheels hence ruining the cars front/rear weight distribution and destroying its handling
In fact a 1GGTE and gearbox weighs less than an 18R-C and Gearbox so handling improves when the 1G is fitted to a xA23

Thats a good point that Rod made about the 1G being lighter. A lot of people say oh its a six, must be heavy, but they also forget that one of the biggest aims for the 1G was to make it light.
