How to pack and send rims? Thu, 08 May 2003 05:19 Go to next message
I'm selling some rims interstate, so they need to be packed. How do you pack the rims? At the moment I've tied them up 2 by 2, but they still move around a fair bit and and if that string breaks then the rims go everywhere. I tried to put cardboard between the rims, and on the ends but that didn't work as it kept coming out because the rims were moving around so much. Tried duct tape, that didn't work either...

How should I do this?

Your best bet is to find individual boxes that are an exact match to the rim size. That is, the dimensions of the box are equal to the radius and width of the rim. This is how toyota pack them and how they are shipped interstate so it should work. As long as there is no movement there should be no damage, and you can never use too much sticky tape!

Well I've gone over the lot with like a whole roll of duct tape, and it seems to be holding together. I've got cardboard between the rims.

Hope it works...

Yup... Get some mag wheel boxes... And tyre shop will have some lying around...

If your sending them by post or courier they will most likely want them to be packaged properly anywayz...
