Hello guys,
I have been lurking around on toymods for quite a while now. Since I have a toyota related question to ask so I thought there'd be no better place to ask than here.
So anyway, last night around 6pm, I was driving towards the city (I'm in Sydney btw). I noticed a white SW20 MR2 on Eddy Ave and didn't think much about it until my friend noticed it was a left hand drive car. So when we were waiting to turn right onto George St, I noticed the back of the car had a 'turbo' badge on the right hand corner. I also noticed it had NSW style license plates on, or at least I think it is because I only noticed it was black letters on white back with with registration Axx-nnQ (x are letters and n are numbers). But I'm not too sure because didn't see the NSW bit that should be vertical, on the left of the plate. I think it was bent so that the plate could fit onto the bumper area where the plate should go. The car also didn't have a left hand drive sticker on the back.
Has anyone noticed this MR2 going around? I'm curious because I was under the impression that late model left hand drive cars couldn't be registered in NSW. I wanted to ask the driver how he registered the car when I was next to him in traffic but he didn't seem too approchable
So whats the story? It's a temporary import or what? Tell me your theories.

the only late model LHD cars that would have some form of rego on aus roads would be diplomatic cars, ie any foreign nationals from the embassay may drive what ever they want to the best of my knowledge.
