1jzge NA camshafts into a 1jzgte engine question

Hi-I have read multiple times about NA 1jz cams being a good cheap upgrade for the 1jzgte engine. I picked up a set the other day and comparing them to the turbo cams, noticed a few differences and wonder if anyone here had tried this. The first thing I noticed was the NA cam only has one tooth for only one of the cam sensors, and the gte has two, and has two cam position sensors, both on the same cam(intake) Is this a problem? Are both cams to be swapped, or only 1? The other thing I noticed was the part of the cam where the cam seal goes is a bit larger than the GTE cam, and a different seal will be needed, possibly a 2jz cam seal? Lastly was the NA cams had a drive gear for the distributer, but it doesn't interfere with anything so I don't expect any problems. If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks-

I'd be interested to hear if there is much of a difference in lift. Have you measured this with a dial indicator?
I can measure the 2JZGE cam seals for you tomorrow. I have a couple lying around.
Are you sure the 1JZGE intake cam actually has a tooth at all? The 2JZGE has no cam angle sensor, and the intake cam has no reference tooth at all. All the crank and cam angle sensing is done via the distributor in the 2JZGE, and funnily enough on one of my motors the dizzy is labelled as a 1JZGE, so I'd have assumed it was the same.
I'll post up the cam seal dimensions tomorrow.

It definitly has one tooth, it may have had two on it, but only one of them lined up with the sensor, I'll have to double check that tomorrow. I don't understand why they have two sensors on the same cam, seems like overkill.I measued the lobe only, from base to tip, it was 1 mm longer than the turbo one. I don't have a dial indicator, but I can try and make some more measurements tomorrow. I know a 2jz cam seal has a bigger hole for the cam, I should hopefully have one this week to compare it to. I just emailed a friend of mine in Japan who runs a tuner shop, hopefully he can shed some light on it. He has told me in the past he has done it before and it is a nice cheap upgrade.
