Im thinking of Selling the Supra to buy an Older shape LS400, and TT it, what you guys think? I know the 1UZ-FE can handle the power, but what about the stock AUTO?

...Or what about a Cressida? (particularly one with after-market engine management!) Like mine? Razz

Just a thought...

Great Idea!

A few sites:

http://www.lextreme.com/FI%20Registary.htm (very good, detailed, pics etc.) This guy actually put the turbos behind the engine, which is where I want mine.

and always the groundfighter

http://www.bradbowling.com/archives/articles/groun dfighter.shtml

and planet soarer is the best lexus site I've found

http://www.users.bigpond.com/pgscott/

and of course the boys at the Australial Lexus Soarer Club

http://www.lexus.australia.as

Look for a soarer with Active suspension as they handle a lot better than the airbag suspension ones.

Stock auto gearbox will take a LOT of beating. or you could always put a R154 manual behind it. or a late model W58 (from a 2J) might be able to handle the power.

I think the auto would need to be strengthened to handle the massive torque such an engine would generate. Cool idea though, those LS400's look awesome lowered with big rims. Pimpin!

Yeah i know what your talking about there very nice and i want one Very Happy i think this is the big brother of the soarer that's why people mistake them. But dude twin turbo there already V8 and very quick from what ive heard, and i think they use the same gearbox in the landcruiser 5 speed auto but dont hold me to that. Very nice car anyway and i think stock its powerful enough

Just a suggestion as I haven't looked into it myself, but have you researched the strength/size etc of the 'boxes that Toyota mates with the 2UZ and 3UZ? These are larger and more torquey engines and I would imagine (hopefully) that they would come with a stronger box... Rolling Eyes

But in all honesty; get a Motec (or sim.); a big arse manual box and all the PSI you you could ever want...

...and HAVE FUN!!!!!!! Evil or Very Mad

a good idea would be to compare the auto on the 1UZ to the post 1997 2JZ-GTE...

IF you break the auto, then look at replacing it. Right now its got the factory auto in it and it works fine.

It'll be hell to change it (and expensive). Wait till you've broken it first.

And I like the idea of a twin turbo celsior (now I know what it is) better than a twin turbo soarer!

Rob, how would you compare them? The Celsior is an 89 model, going up against a 97 Supra, Im sure the Celsior will come out second best.
