removing glass off AE82/86 headlight? Mon, 12 May 2003 12:53 Go to next message
how do you do this guys?

There seems to be a gluey type bond that is very strong, seems impossible to do without shattering it. There are clips on wither side of the headlight which SEEMS to hold it in place, but when removed, they do nothing.

HELP! Confused

I seem to recall Bill Sherwood saying that soaking them in hot water makes it easier to peel off the glue or scrap it away ... but then again, don't quote me on this.

Just do a search either on these forums, www.twincam16.com or failing that, try his own web page - www.billzilla.org

The clips by the side are only an added protection - you'll still have to get rid of the glue.

But believe me, those AE82 lenses will fit ...

Yes, AE82 lenses will fit. Yes the glue is a right pain in the arse, but boiling water, 3rd degree burns, a sharp blade and a little bad language should see it shift.

I used a hair drier on my side lenses, made the glue come unstuck real good, but also need to use some brute force/bad language
