You might be able to get them second hand for around the $400-500 mark for the normal one and more for the GRP A one. Im guessing they would be quite a lot from Toyota. They fit straight onto the normal Celica.

hey ssv make a gt4 style bonnet scoop if you just want the scoop not the whole hood aswell
http://www.ssv.com.au/images/product/large/BS02MAIN.JPG

its $195 . go to www.ssv.com.au then look through and find the bonnet scoop section, its in there.
oh and they can install it for you and/or give you instructions on how to do it.

With painting and installation it will end up costing $350-400 and then make your car look stupid because isnt flush with the bonnet. If you want one, buy the real thing.

What would you be using the scoop for - looks or actual purpose ?

i suppose you could ATTEMPT to make it into a cold air induction system for a stock celica - but seeing they were designed for the top mount intercooler on the gt4 - youd just be sucking in air to no where.

OK - no harm intended! Just I'm not too big on wings on lancers, tacho's on VLs, scoops on celicas, that kind of thing... each to their own though.

If you want to do some kind of good rather than harm, get the bonnet extractor, or some kind of bonnet vent to suck hot air OUT rather than blowing it in to stop air going through the radiator...

heat extraction is a good thing - especially if you have a pod filter sucking air under there

I dont know how hot a 5sfe gets but the 3sgte amkes the engine bay so hot you can stand around and warm yourselves off them in the snow !

I've been hunting around some wreckers and have found a couple of normal (scoop) type GT4 bonnets for around $150 in good condition. Modern Auto Recyclers in Bulimba (Brisbane) have a few in stock at the moment for that price.

I have not found any of the Group A (vent and nostril) type bonnets anywhere. Its a pity those SSV ones look so naff, cause the Group A bonnet is very expensive from Toyota

If you can buy whole GT4 bonnets for that cheap u should buy a few and sell them down the track Smile

The 3S gets very hot indeed. When im at the lights i can see all the heat rising from my vent in the bonnet.

Yeah they sure do pump out the heat. When I lift the bonnet, I nearly keel over from the heat.

The wreckers (All Motor Wreckers in Virginia) had about 4 in stock.. 1 red, 2 maroon and 1 grey. Some had little scratches etc, but certainly not dented or anything.

why would it give people a reason to laugh. considering where the air intake on the engine is it wouldnt be hard to plumb up a CAI to suck the air from right where the scoop is. and besides think of all the poeple that gets bodykits on there car more not much more then the look. anyways im thinkin of something like this

http://www.celicagt4.info/Celica_Pics/current/prof ile1.jpg

i think ill just have to ring around at a few wreckers around perth cause i cant say that SSV one does anything for me.

also wats that litte hole on the left side of the SSV one spose to be for

The front bar is modified GRP A one so you probably wont have any lucky getting one.

Thats Steve Bignalls Gt4 - He made his own Front bumper ( modified a standard one i believe- ill check on this if you like next time i speak to him ) so thats a custom job - not off the shelf . You could ger a similar effect with the group a Bonnet by removing the centre pillar if you want wide FM intercooler gap . Last time i saw this car - his scoop wasnt being used for anything in particular though he had plans for a custom air intake under the front passenger fender area .

As for the little hole - its used as a cam belt cooler - its plumbed into the cam gear assembly to keep it all from not roasting itself to bits with the heat

Re using the scoop for an air intake for CAI - youd have a pluming mess under your bonnet seeing the airbox is located WAY down the front of the car. Youd be better off using a pieice of tubing coming up from under the fender and plumbing that into the airbox + Shielding the box from the heat

The top scoop is designed purely for the top mount intercooler - Looks good yes - but it would be a pain inthe arse to make it into a air ram youd have to fabricate somethign to sit UNDER the bonnet to direct air into the front left hand corner of the car and that in itself would be restrictive. Everyone i know has used the plumb from fender design cause its a lot more effective and cheaper to make

yup i am - its called staying up too late and waking up too early Wink confusion reigns Wink

BUMPer / bumper - my mistake

his bumper is a modified mould of a grp A one

had a look at the ssv scoop too - it looks tacky IMHO - they need to be blended into the bonnet - not just cut and shut .

First of all and im suprised no1 has actually asked this, which GT4 scoop are you actually after??? There is the 90-92 model GT4 scoop whick look awsome on the celicas of there is the later GROUP A GT4 scoop which every1 seems to be talking about. I only know of 1 place that does the early model 1 but if you are after the later GROUP A then dont go to SSV. They quoted me over $550 to supply, fit and paint and it sits very high on the bonnet and looks crap. Places like JETSPEED and XRACING do a GT4 scoop that moulds into the bonnet and looks very aggressive. JETSPEED do it for about $80 supplied and XRACING do it for a little more than that. Fitting and paint will cost extra. It might be an idea to fit bonnet liner under it so stop water invading your engine.

If you want a normal GT4 hood (scoop) then just buy one of the ones you can get for $150. If you want a GRP A hood (vent) then start saving. I know a person that got canaried for a GRP A vent he installed on his 90 Celica bonnet. Stick with original items and you'll be right.

For the group A scoops, you can get in some deep trouble witht hem if you go and hack your bonnet up. All SSV do is sit the scoop ontop of your bonnet, under the mesh in the vent they paint mat black and just drill a series of small holes so you dont need to get it all engineered. If you go and cut your bonnet braces then you will need an engineers certificate and will need to strenghen your bonnet up again.
