Hey, what kind of fuel economy would a 2TGU with twin Solex carbs have? This is a pretty open ended question so my apologies. Is it a guzzler?

Well... My car has a 2TGEU in it.. I will get around 450-500km to the tank. I used to get a lot less until the right computer and airflow meter was attached..
Sorry mine is fuel injected.. but it might give you a rough idea..

Sidedraughts are good for one thing only - POWER! Fuel economy is definitely not what they're built for. EFI will use way less fuel, and make the car more driveable to boot.

Miss 22..
Norbie is spot on. Sidedraughts are great for power but they hit your wallet pretty hard when the fuel bill comes in. I bought a complete 2TGEU, I didn't buy the EFI gear seperatly. But the complete motor costs me $500 from Ichibahn.

thanks,
yeah i know it is more fuel economis to have EFI. Just need to find a 2tgeu, im getting a ta22 in a few weeks and only have a 2tg to put in...plus im not financial at the moment and will be off work for almost 2 months, so i thought i would stick with it and get the efi gear when i can afford it...do you think this will turn out more expensive? should i just wait for a 2tgeu to come up later?? thanks for your help!

Miss 22,
The 2TG is not to bad on Fuel in standard trim. By the sounds of it your engine is stock so I wouldn't worry to much about it. As long as the carbies are in good condition and you don't have your foot burried in the carpet all of the time.
If your carbies need to be rebuilt then that is a costly exercise and you may well be better off just getting a 2TGEU complete and selling off the other 2TG. The 2TGEU is deffinatly quieter and lees grumpy when cold. In theory it should also be more economical.
If your putting the engine in yourself and you have it there then the 2TG is a very simple install so you can always just try it and see. If the 2T that comes in your TA22 is on the old and unhealthy side you may actually find the 2TG is Better on fuel.
