have a look at the Megasquirt, much cheaper than any other computer, you make it yourself, tuning is dead easy with an excellent windows interface, and is as flexible as you could want.
one of the latest Squirted projects is a turbo hayabusa engine for a land speed vehicle (car/bike/sled?) running 16psi so far with 400+hp.
if you are near newtown, come and have a look at mine.

the Megamanual is at http://members.shaw.ca/megasquirt/MS%20FAQ.htm
and the home page is at http://www.bgsoflex.com/megasquirt.html
also search thru the message at the yahoo group 'megasquirt' and also the aussie version has the latest tuning and tweaking programs, it called OZ_MS
yes it is only a fuel computer atm, but the ignition side of it will be out later this year and will have the same 8x8 RPMvsMAP table, knock sensing, coil per plug etc.....
even if you don't wanna get one, check it out it's kinda the baby of some of the DIY_EFI or EFI_332 guys Bruce Bowling and Al Grippo..
if you are in sydney, come and have a look at mine
