Gearbox and Diff and 4agze Questions. Fri, 16 May 2003 07:36 Go to next message
Hi, Bought a KE20 with a 4agze a while ago and it has a standard diff and a T50 gearbox. Neither is strong enough with the diffs lasting as little as 2 weeks for a freebie from the back paddock up to 3 months for one from a wreckers then welded to a locker. The Gearbox is getting noisy at about 12 months (about 25000ks)

1. Which would the best diff to get cut down to put in?
2. Which would be a better Gearbox to put in?

At the moment I'm thinking a K55 (I think) with a Hilux Diff with LSD running about 4.2.

Are the ratios on the K box much different to the T box?

Is a hilux diff going to be strong enough?

My engine is either a series 2 or 3 I think. It has 2 coil packs on the back of the head and the intercooler was mounted directly on top of the engine. No AFM. Is there a way to tell without looking at the pistons?

Can the Ignition timing be adjusted by moving the sensor where the dizzy used to be or is it in the computer?

Any answers would be appreciated.
Thanks.
