Is it a proper one or a cut/weld job. Plus does it come with the spacer?

with no spacer? got a pic of this? I'd like to see the design, as noone else can do this mod without using a spacer.

To ID family and the others: part no# is: 30301-AE802 this is the package set no# which include the short shifter and the TRD Gear Knob, I don't have the part no# for the short shifter itself..... wish this may help...

I believe Mick asked for a part number from IDFamily,to see if what he has in his car is a TRD part.
to clear up the "what's a spacer?" part,a short shifter has a longer throw on the underside of the lever, neccessatating the pivot being spaced up by the amount the new pivot is longer than a normal shifter. there will be the top plate that the shifter is mounter in,and a block machined to the same shape sitting between it,and the top of the gearbox.
if the top plate is just bolted onto the box as usual, and is no thicker than a std unit,it's not a short shift. stick length is irrelevant.

hey, i'm no expert on this part, but i had this thought... if TRD make it to replace the stock one, maybe it comes with a complete new upper housing where the shifter ball sits in, and this new top housing is manufactured to be higher, hence high enough to compensate for the new short shifter... just an idea.

UM.....interesting, well, I am using a TRD short shifter myself and I am agree with Dorikin, It comes with a new upper housing so no spacers is needed, and it marked "TRD" on the upper housing so the possibility of getting a fake one is very rare, I believe the one with ID Family is a geniue TRD one since I installed it for him.It came with a TRD upper housing and the "shift" itself.....so it's just a direct swap from the original and using the "C" ring from the original stick also.. cheers...

On the subject of short shifts... Recently i tried to shorten the shift on my T50 box with a cut/weld/spacer job but the weld hasnt penetrated the steel, only the wire has bonded and it has cracked through both times. It was done using a TIG welder by a fair so what type of welding did you guys whove done this job succesfully use??
